Prime Minister Gaston Browne has criticized the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union (ABWU) for failing to adequately represent Royalton Resort workers amid ongoing grievances.

On Tuesday, employees protested for several hours over inadequate pay, poor working conditions, delayed payments, and dissatisfaction with the HR manager.

Browne accused the union of neglecting workers’ concerns despite repeated complaints, also calling out Deputy General Secretary Chester Hughes for his handling of the situation.

He urged swift action to address these issues, warning of potential further protests if left unresolved.

  1. Chester Hughes is only concerned with the stipend he receives from being on MBS Board and the amount of people he vote against receiving help. He has forgotten his roots now that money is rolling eeen.

  2. These are the kinds of things that result when you try to outlaw Unions and want employees to negotiate with you. At least they have learned from your interactions with the ex LIAT workers.

  3. Always remember the Union is only as strong as long as the workers support so the workers did the right thing walking of the job that’s the spirit
