This is the first of two groups of Antiguans and Barbudans to graduate from Universities in Cuba with medical degrees this year.

The second group of medical students will graduate later this year.

Prime Minister Browne says that he looks forward to the new doctors making meaningful contributions to the healthcare delivery system in Antigua and Barbuda and extends his government’s appreciation to the government and people of Cuba for their continued support of the country’s development.

  1. Congratulation to the Doctors is indeed in order.

Although our health care system has a shortage of doctors & nurses causing our health care system to be in shambles, the health minister clearly indicated In a recent a interview that the govt has a program in place that can only accomodate a limited amount of doctors.

Does that mean that seven years of studying along with the sacrifice of been away from families & love ones just to fulfill their dreams of giving back to their country will go in vain & cause them frustration?

Mr. Minister, there is a daily cry that doctors at the hospital are overwhelmed with work. Putting new doctors on the payroll should be a priority. The more doctors we have at the hospital & clinics the better it will be for our health care system & our nation.

    • If they put more doctors on the payroll somebody with an unnecessarily high salary will have to get a pay cut, and we can’t have that in beautiful Antigua

  2. CONGRATULATIONS !!

May their careers be filled with the joy and satisfaction; with which they pursued their profession.

It occurred to me that four out of five graduates are females. That says a lot about the direction in which our country is going.

Further, I hope these young doctors don’t become the victims of Cabinet’s negligence.

  3. Congratulations to all the newly qualified doctors.

I’m now hoping that the government (led by the most incompetent Health Minister in living memory – what he damn name again 🤔) will now follow up this good news by investigating more funds into our health service for better care, equipment and keeping the doctors and nurses we have here.

I recall that Gassssston did say that Antigua is now an economic powerhouse …

  4. Congratulations are in order for all the graduants. I pray they will be fully employed into our healthcare system and not be frustrated out to find greener pastures.
