PM Browne Confirms Discovery of Bones at Booby Alley Construction Site

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has confirmed the discovery of human bones at the Booby Alley construction site, an area historically known to have been a burial ground.

Speaking on Pointe FM yesterday, Browne said that the discovery is not unusual and assured the public that appropriate measur es are being taken to handle the remains respectfully.

The bones, believed to be over 250 years old, were uncovered during excavation work at the site, prompting health officials, the police, and archaeologist Dr. Murphy to investigate.

“The police were called in to ensure that these are not from recent deaths, and Dr. Murphy is conducting carbon testing to determine their age,” Browne stated. Preliminary reports suggest that the remains date back at least two centuries.

The Prime Minister explained that the high water table in the area had caused significant deterioration of the bones, making them fragile and prone to disintegration during excavation.

Efforts are now underway to recover as many remains as possible for reburial at an alternative site. Browne reassured the public that the construction project would not be abandoned, as the focus is on respectfully addressing the discovery rather than halting development.

“This is not an unusual situation,” Browne said, referencing similar discoveries during past developments in Antigua, including at the fisheries complex and the original market site.

“Globally, many construction projects encounter burial grounds. The key is to handle the remains with dignity and continue development responsibly.”

Browne also dismissed attempts by opposition figures to politicize the discovery, urging them to approach the matter with sensitivity. “There’s no need for alarm. This is a routine issue when dealing with sites that may have historic burial grounds,” he stated.

The Prime Minister concluded by reaffirming his government’s commitment to transparency and respect for historical and cultural heritage, promising to keep the public informed as the investigation continues.

The ghosts of Booby Alley should start their #haunting, of our politicians by blowing some form of #truth_serum into their faces every time, they begin to tell a lie; so that, they’ll choke on their lies as they try to cough them up like viruses and affect people with them.

If our present cultural and heritage are not being respected, why do we think, that such a cultural and heritage site of our past would be?

There have always been talk of the area in question, that it was a former burial site. Therefore, why wasn’t a proper site evaluation and environmental impact study done? And, if one was done what were the conclusions and recommendations?

This excuse of #high_water mark means someone is high on seaweed.
