PM Browne Suggests Alternative Union for Hospitality Workers Amid Dispute with ABWU
Amid a heated exchange with the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union (ABWU) over wages in the hotel sector, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has proposed that hospitality workers establish their own union to advocate for better salaries and benefits.
“This is a clarion call for hospitality workers to incorporate their own union to negotiate better salaries and wages,” Browne stated.
He further recommended that this new collective be supported by a credit union, supermarket, and construction company to provide members with access to financial services, affordable goods, and housing.
The Prime Minister’s suggestion underscores his dissatisfaction with the current union’s handling of negotiations and his vision for an independent organization focused exclusively on the needs of hospitality workers.

They need to! abwu does not have the best interest of hotel workers at heart!
PM can say what de hell he want..but we all know. This will NEVER happen. Antiguans will not want to disrupt the status quo and to make things better for themselves. They will rely on political blamings’. Blame the union, blame the govment, blame the church, blame satan…. and wound not do one thing to alleviate the hardship foisted on them….
Just complain
Have he looked at his union lately (The A.T.&L.U.)? They can’t even fix their ‘historic’ building on North Street.
This guy have to be kidding me.
Trupz.
not even a little bit of your DEFLECTING can change the FACT that ABWU DOES NOT CARE ABOUT WORKERS!!!!!
