PM Browne Calls Harold Lovell a ‘Spent Force,’ Urges All Saints West Voters to Reject Him

16

Prime Minister Gaston Browne took aim at opposition politician Harold Lovell during a town hall meeting in Seaview Farm, urging residents of All Saints West to reject the United Progressive Party’s (UPP) candidate in the next general elections.

Browne described Lovell as a “spent force” and “delusional,” questioning his ability to represent the constituency and accusing him of decades of political failure.

“A spent force. A man who is 70 years of age. The Bible says what? Three score and ten,” Browne said. “So nothing tall futuristic about him. Now, a 70-year-old man can’t have no energy. But he’s going around telling people that he’s younger than Comrade Smith. I say better look at me.”

The Prime Minister contrasted Lovell’s record with that of Hon. Anthony Smith Jr., who recently aligned himself with the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) after leaving the UPP. He praised Smith as a young leader with “energy and ambition” who represents the constituency’s future.

“I want the people of All Saints West to understand that by supporting this young man, Comrade Smith, you are literally supporting the future,” Browne said. “Why would anyone want to go back to a candidate who is on rewind? We are moving forward—he’s on rewind.”

Browne also criticized Lovell’s performance as the former MP for St. John’s City East, claiming that his former constituents rejected him repeatedly and that he failed to deliver on basic community improvements.

“The place where he came from, City East, where he spent practically all his life—they rejected him eight out of ten times,” Browne said. “He was finance minister and representative, and he didn’t see the Bishopgate Street Clinic in disrepair. It took Gaston Browne in 2014 to get the People’s Republic of China to build a new polyclinic in Villa.”

Browne concluded by warning that electing Lovell would “reverse progress” in All Saints West, saying, “It is for the people of this constituency to send Harold Lovell a firm message—go back from whence you came.”

  1. Four score and ten?
Do you think you’ll get to four score and
    ten?
Harold might be 70. But at least he ain’t on
    Risperdal?? Hmmm
I looked it up, schizophrenia run in families.
    Father help us in antigua.

  2. SPENT FORCE. SPENT FORCE Harold Lovell. How can Lovell run for election while residing in Canada ? All Saints west will REJECT Lovell.

According to Mr Anthonyson King , Lovell will lose by 600 Votes in All Saints West.

    UPP the CRIMINAL PARTY.

  3. Sandra Clarke: you better be sure of what is not in your family. My mother of blessed memory used to say: “you spit in the air it comes back in your face”. She also used to say “when you point out a grave joke what how you walk, for it could be your own”. A word for the wise. There, I said it.

  4. Instead of acknowledging the formidable challenge that the ABLP in All Saints West will get from the Honourable Harold Lovell. Browne reverts to type with his juvenile, delinquent and unpleasant rhetoric against him.

Any of us who works in a tough competitive and robust environment, understand that you have to acknowledge your competitor/or opponent. But if you want to get the better of them you resort to your own skill set.

Name calling and swearing is just what the ignorant and uneducated resort to (and there use to be so many on ANR threads a few years ago until the well educated run dem off of here).

Gaston Browne continues to act like a playground bully; and remember, we must never forget how Gaston Browne threatened to “thump” politician, the late Asot Michael whilst he was out canvassing for votes.

Be very wary of this cantankerous man Mr Lovell

Remember, when the fish head rotten bad, the rest of the body soon follow. Is it any wonder that so many of his followers duplicate his thug-like behaviour.

This untenable DRAGOMAN has to go, he acts like he really hates his fellow Antiguans.

  5. No wants to hear this joker..go clean up your corrupt administration GB, and stop teefing all the peoples tax money.

All the damn money that came into Antigua, and not a damn thing to show for it..
People are scared to go to sleep at night, and you out here worried about Lovell.

You should be a shame of your damn self.
Your time soon come to be booted out of office..so you better worry about your seat instead. And Lovell is not a spent shell, that’s why you had to teef the seat from him the last election.

  6. Under normal circumstances I would say that Lovell is spent milk. However in this circumstance he could well be timely manna. Anthony Smith because of the lack of trust will have a big battle on his hands. He will need all the help he can this time around.
It is a known fact he won that seat by default. UPP also was on a roll and his youthfulness was counted to his benefits. Today it’s a different story, his legacy is that of untrustworthiness. Hence the older and more stable minded Lovell is now a contender. That’s why the PM and others are getting so much involved in All Saints west police.
The recent Vechicle scandal and the decision to punish the general public and especially the businesses community will negatively affect the ABLP. In that constituency are several prominent business owners, and self-employed Antiguans. So the government has to be mindful.
This constituency has been neglected for many years. All Saints Clinic which has been so important for the entire constituency has been left abandoned for a decade. That alone is political suicide. The roads , the infrastructure is in a mess. The main roads from St.John’s to All Saints has never been so bad in the history of Antigua.
Mr. Pm there a lot of fixing to do in All Saints if you are going to keep the 70 years old Lovell out once and for all. Lovell the corruption and the way it is handled is making elderly statesman like you, with integrity very viable.

  7. @ rev Gordon!
Exactly what you said to me.. go tell that to the prime minister!
    Defend the indefensible!
    Shame on you!
I said schizophrenia run in families..
You missed the point of my opinion sir..
    It is my opinion!
And im allowed to give it..
This a free country, is it not?
    Wait!
You might be on Risperdal too🤔

  8. The ABLP never ever beat Lovell in a fair election yet. You have bought the constituency, if that is your way of beating someone little wonder we have so much crime in Antigua. You confessed to transferring people from your constituency in other weaker ones. That is downright thieving

  9. ANR,
Why repost this article as a headline article when you are not uploading comments in favour of Lovell?
You are making this portal a political bias fake news platform

  10. Gaston here! Sshh! Let me tell Lovell is a clear threat, if he emerged he could convince his former aclm colleagues to defect from ALP or become insubordinate to me.
And he has the etiquette that the business community can work with, and they are more confident in him, is not like the old fight where I could show the country that I am more academic and experience than Pringle.

  11. @ Sandra clarke,
Don’t worry with the Tremont Ave hustler who hangs out in Rockland County while he defends a currupt system in Antigua and Barbuda and thinks he has any credibility.

This is the same disingenuous character who defended Gaston when he assailed the judges; but did not have anything to say when Motley and Gonzales did the same.

Keep quiet before I expose you and your fake credentials.

  12. Yep @ Sandra Clarke keep being you.

These pastors in Antigua come out on the attack on the wrong issues so many times. Here’s just a few:

The lack of intervention on unpaid public sector payments like wages and pensions they stay silent; taxpayers money being wasted on a super yacht that didn’t belong to the government, their lips were sealed; and what happened to all those Africans that were stranded here in Antigua?

Also their nonsensical support for the obelisk looking idol worshipping statue placed in All Saints.

And never ever forget that the majority of Antiguans religious leaders were firmly behind the government’s opush for the harmful AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines that has caused irreparable harm to those that took this now globally banned and dangerous mRNA drug.

I know of someone who took the advice of a pastor to go ahead and take the mRNA vaccine – her husband now has cancer.

Coincidence! Who knows? But you hear just too many of these medical mishaps in recent times.

I’ve only come across one genuine pastor, who was out on the streets on a regular basis, supporting youth initiatives and feeding the poor and destitute.

I came across this amazing man of God when working abroad.

But unfortunately right here, so many have got their priorities so upside-down Sandra.

Be you, and don’t ever be intimidated by not ah one of them …

  13. @ Rev. Gordon A R Edwards, PhD, PsyD, LMFT, LP,
    Leave Sandra Smith alone.
She thinks for herself and is not afraid to express her thoughts.
She is a breath of fresh air in a society that stinks to high heaven.
How can a people like you and others who openly supports a most currupt of a Government in this country have the temerity and moral integrity to be putting out old wife’s tales and to be advising poor people on their most personal matters?
That’s a rhetorical; for the members of the Ecuminal community do the same when they pray that God will have mercy on a immoral thieving and corrupt Antigua and Barbuda Cabinet every Tuesday, while they return to their pulpits preaching fire and brimstone?

When I get to hell; I’m sure people like you and the other dishonest ecumenicals from Antigua and Barbuda will be in the front row welcoming me.

  14. Hello to my people !
Thank you so much for your support!
It means a lot to me on this platform.❤️
Sometimes we act like we live in a dictatorship afraid to speak our minds and express our opinions!🤔
This labor party cabal and the head of the cabal will destroy antigua with they’re greedy ways ,again Father help us.

  15. @Sandra Clarke,
Re: Rev. Gordon A R Edwards, PhD, PsyD, LMFT, LP
Lady Sandra, have always been rational and consistent; that’s why Gaston Browne boot-lickers like Gordon Edwards try to keep you down, but they can’t.
Keep on, keeping on!!!! While you do, they will for ever be bootlickers and crumb snachers in their pretentious, dunce and selfishness while they stand on line waiting for ABLP handouts
