PM Browne attends ECCB Monetary Council Meetings in Saint Kitts and Nevis

JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda – 14th February 2024…….Prime Minister Gaston Browne is in Saint Kitts and Nevis today for a series of important meetings, one of which is a meeting between the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Monetary Council and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

That meeting is scheduled for Thursday and Friday and is preceded by a meeting of the OECS Authority, the highest decision-making body within the sub-regional group’s highest decision-making body.

The 74th Meeting of the OECS Authority takes place from February 14 to 15 in Saint Kitts and Nevis. At this meeting Prime Minister Browne will join his fellow OECS Heads to discuss important matters such as the Regional Transportation, the work of the OECS Commission, outcomes of COP 28, and further Regional Integration amongst OECS Member States.

While in Saint Kitts and Nevis the Prime Minister will also attend the 107th Meeting of the Monetary Council of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.  Prime Minister Browne is accompanied by the country’s Financial Secretary, Rasona Davis Crump at this meeting.

The members of the ECCB Monetary Council, which comprises finance members from the grouping, will meet for dinner with the IMF’s Deputy Director, Bo Li on Thursday evening with the formal meeting scheduled for Friday morning.

Introductory remarks will be given by the Monetary Council Chairman, followed by a response from Director Li, then both sides will enter into in-depth discussion.

The latest ECCB report shows that overall, the economies of the members of the OECS have been performing well. Under those circumstances, it is not expected that any country within the OECS would be seeking budgetary support from the IMF anytime soon.

PM Browne is accompanied by Senior Foreign Service officer, Kurt Williams to the Authority Meeting. (Ends)

  1. Hope someone at the meeting has the balls, to ask Gaston Browne in public and for the record; what the hell is going on at Global Bank of Commerce?

I know I know. its govern by a different regulatory agency which Gaston appointed so it’s a fair question.

    • What the hell can this greedy, gravalicious big eye and deep pocket man teach anybody in St Kitts & Nevis, but to how become craven; self-enriched; and lickie-lickie.

Don’t forget that Barbuda is still waiting for their $1 million dollars hurricane Irma donation for over 6 years (maybe he gone out there to teach how to hold on to money that doesn’t belong to he).

MEK GASSSSSTON 🥸 STAY OUT DEY…
