PM Browne Arrives in Grenada for AfriCaribbean Trade Forum

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has arrived in Grenada for the 2025 AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF), where over 1,800 delegates are expected to gather for high-level discussions on boosting economic ties between Africa and the Caribbean.

Browne received a warm welcome at Maurice Bishop International Airport ahead of the two-day event in St George’s. He is joined by Port Manager Darwin Telemaque, Ambassador Devin Joseph, and other government officials.

ACTIF, now in its fourth year, is organised by Afreximbank in partnership with CARICOM and aims to deepen trade, investment, and cultural collaboration across key sectors including agriculture, tourism, and finance.

Despite current trade levels between Africa and the Caribbean accounting for less than 1% of total exports, recent forecasts from the International Trade Centre suggest this could grow to over US$2.1 billion in the coming years.

This year’s forum, running from 28–29 July, centres on resilience and transformation amid global challenges and is seen as a critical platform for advancing shared prosperity across both regions.

  1. This ‘Fly-away’ Prime Minister needs to come home immediately and address the rise in gun related incidents here in Antigua.

Something has seriously gone awry; and ignoring this serious problem won’t make it go away anytime soon.

These politicians in the main governing party, are virtually immune from these incidents because they not only have detailed security protecting them 24/7 but also live in fortress like dwellings, whereas the rest of us have to try and fend for ourselves with this onslaught of growth in gun crimes.

ALL WE ASK IS THAT YOU TELL US HOW YOU ARE GOING TO RESOLVE THIS!

He always “dances abroad” when the going gets tough here at home.

    Put Antiguans first nah man!

He’s not the worst Prime Minister we’ve ever had, but Browne is getting damn near close …

I can only marvel at the extent of your NESCIENCE Prime Minister.

  2. Just another vacation trip on the tax payers, could be done by zoom, thing is they are invited, who is orchestrating this interest? They are infantilized all the time going to these meetings to sit as children in class and told to sign this are that which they don’t understand, some may have some realization and present a recitation but no implementation, you think if our politicians wanted life to improve for the people it have happened instantly as how the politicians make themselves instantly rich upon winning the election which is the lottery.
Stop waste the citizens tax money on trips and vacation.

  3. Vision, planning, implementation. Not allowing ourselves to be left at the whim of any one super power. Let’s get it done.

  4. This forum is an opportunity to chart a unified future, exploring possibilities like a potential AfriCaribbean Free Trade Area. Antigua and Barbuda’s voice in these discussions is vital.

  5. Africa and the Caribbean must stand as one. Trade, culture, and innovation, our strength lies in unity. ACTIF2025 is a step forward.

  6. Caribbean-Africa cooperation should include green tech, youth entrepreneurship, and regional innovation hubs. The potential is massive.
