PM Browne Apologizes to Constituents for Frequent Travels, Cites International Responsibilities
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has issued an apology to his constituents for his absence in recent months, attributing his frequent travels to the demands of representing Antigua and Barbuda on the international stage.
Speaking on Pointe FM, Browne acknowledged the concerns of his constituents, who are accustomed to seeing him regularly in their communities.
“I want to apologize to my dear constituents—you don’t see me as often,” Browne stated.
“They’re working me so hard, even within the international space. I recognize over the last month or two, I’ve been traveling extensively—not because I want to, but because I’ve been nominated to speak at several international events.”
The Prime Minister highlighted his role as a global advocate for climate justice, noting that Antigua and Barbuda is recognized as a leader in the fight against climate change.
While he admitted that frequent travel has been challenging, Browne reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the needs of his constituents and promised to make adjustments to ensure he is more present.
Browne praised the efforts of representatives like Senator Lamin Newton and Dwayne George for maintaining strong connections with the community during his absence.
“These candidates have set the bar for where we’re going in terms of connectivity with the people,” he remarked, expressing optimism about the level of mobilization within his party.
The Prime Minister left the state Saturday for the Netherlands.
