My name is Ruth George, and Im writing to you on behalf of my mother, Sarah Lidia George King, 66, a citizen of Antigua and Barbuda. I am her daughter. My mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer back in September of 2023. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATS APP GROUP
The Medical Centre recommended that we travel to Colombia for treatment because they would cover the medical expenses and that is where they send their cancer patients, as well as because the Radiation Center in Antigua is closed and she would require both Chemotherapy and Radiation.
When we arrived to Colombia, the Hospital informed her that she would be admitted to the hospital to undergo tests because the outpatient procedure would take too long given her cervical cancer was at stage 3.
My mother was admitted to the hospital and later developed pneumonia, landing her in the intensive care unit. About six days later they woke her up and removed the ventilator tube.
She is currently unable to walk or speak properly.
The doctors are now telling us that they are unable to help my mother. And that they are simply attempting to stabilize her for travel.
However, she will be unable to travel back commercially and will require an AIR AMBULANCE SERVICE.
This is devastating news for me, as my father died on January 2, 2024, in Antigua. We’d like to return home as soon as possible with my mother alive, so she can be comfortable and spend time with her grandchildren.
My sister and I accompanied her to Colombia.
We need to raise this funds to get the Air ambulance service to travel back home!!!!
We appreciate any Donations given to this cause.
Thank you!!!

She’s currently in Colombia but this is her email address: [email protected]
It’s the saddest thing that you have to travel overseas to get medical attention, when you are sick, that’s added stress on you
In your most vulnerable state.
For a small country like antigua they way the government is running the country its a shame!
Are you going to have money to travel plus accommodation, it’s not like you can go by yourself,
You’re sick 😫 this is an added stress on you and your family..
Poor people will always suffer in these circumstance..
People in power should always look out for the poor, the rich can
Have money to take of themselves!
But you know what you get a government you deserve..
Really 🤨this situation is not the time to play politics. Not sure what’s happening, I was a few months back in Columbia with my mom. The government provided ALL medical expenses and the ticket for the patient. Persons accomponing the patient would have to find their own accommodation and airfare. The question is did the individual get in contact with MBS (who were the ones who may have approved the travel and treatment prescribed for the patient) and let them know of the situation along with the letter given by the clinic/ hospital describing the situation?
I can imagine what this family is going through at this present moment…..
The thought of
1. not getting the treatment that was expected
2. catching pneumonia
3. unable to use a commercial flight to return home
4. cannot afford an air ambulance
must all be psychologically & mentally devastating.
It is full time that we have a national Insurance that can cater persons like this family who is need of this help.
I do hope as Antiguans we can assist in any little way possible…..
Ques: For those who are willing to assist accordingly who can they contact?
She’s still in Colombia but she’s reachable via WhatsApp at 268 785-6480
I hope a willing wealthy philanthropist can make a substantial donation to help this family.
Lord Have Mercy.
How are we able to make contact with you
This is tough, real tough as I have a very close friend who traveled to Columbia last December for treatment. My mind is going a mile a minute.
