A green-powered ferry service connecting the northern Leeward Islands, including Guadeloupe, Antigua, Barbuda, Dominica, and St. Kitts, is under discussion as part of the EU-funded INTERREG Caribbean KARULINK project.
A team from Guadeloupe, led by private transport company STEPS, met with Antigua’s Port Authority, Ministry of Tourism, and Ministry of Trade to explore logistics. The initiative, facilitated by the Antigua and Barbuda Chamber of Commerce, aims to launch a pilot phase in 2026 and full service by 2027.
Chamber Director Martin Cave and Trade Ministry Permanent Secretary Ambassador Clarence Pilgrim support the project, citing its potential to enhance trade, tourism, and regional connectivity. The team will visit Dominica and St. Kitts next, with national governments set to assess its long-term viability.

Better late than never. Should have been done many years ago. But these broke arse governments don’t prioritize important services to their people.
I don’t care if it’s eco friendly or not we just need a ferry between the islands. These plane tickets are too high jack
I have already given up on that prospect cause it’s talk talk and more talk. So I’ll just sit back and see what happens
Finally. Don’t see why we have to be paying for all these big airports we can’t afford to use
