Plans are underway to expand the pilot program for extended secondary school hours, with implementation in additional schools targeted for September 2025. Education Minister Daryll Matthew outlined the gradual approach, highlighting ongoing assessments and adjustments based on the initial rollout at Sir Novelle Richards Academy (SNRA) and Glanvilles Secondary School.
Currently, the two schools follow staggered schedules, with SNRA extending hours on Mondays and Wednesdays and Glanvilles on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This phased introduction allows the Ministry to address challenges and fine-tune the initiative before broader implementation.

What is the measure of success on this program? What percentage of the objectives were met? Based on the article, is seems as though the objectives were just to test the Ministry’s response to the challenge.
School hours should change from that colonial style administration where children are deprive of sleep to wake 5 a.m in the morning to catch school bus for 6 a.m standing in the dark morning endangering especially little young girl’s who could be assaulted and also take into consideration the deprivation of sleep can leave the brain lethargic why we are having so much underachievers, none of the white independent nation suffer these anomalies, am sure the private white schools in Antigua set their time of school starting time more rational. Can Gaston work with me on this?
Pity Tessa’s child was robbed of a chance at life and a proper education
