Popeshead Street is no longer on the Tuesday route so why the rush for Popeshead Street when other roads need urgent attention? Like Corn Alley in the area just as you turn from Newgate. On Rowan Henry Street in Gambles they dug out a humongous square about a month ago. It is still there mashing up vehicles of unsuspecting drivers, especially at night. On the Paynyers Main Road between Pigotts and back of stadium, APUA dug up about one whole lane also about a month ago and it is still just a gaping hole causing one way traffic. And then they try to convince us that Public Works has a plan.
Have you ever tried walking on Popeshead Street? There is zero area for pedestrians to walk and you have to be constantly navigating yourself between cars coming in either direction and perimeter walls for both businesses and residential homes 🏡. I am actually surprised that there hasn’t been more serious accidents involving pedestrians on Popeshead Street. I am calling on the authorities to move to make Popeshead Street one way only to vehicular traffic.
@audley. If the Traffic Police would do their jobs, some of this would be alleviated. Popeshead Street is no parking on either side but cars park all the time. I have been held up in traffic there plenty times and seen Police vehicles just pass, totally unconcerned. But what am I saying? We have no Traffic Police. They are only seen at accidents and escorting funerals Traffic Police are invisible on the busy streets of Antigua where there is mayhem daily. Or when the government need revenue and they are sent out every now and then to do road checks for license and insurance.
Why do they conver the gutters with asphalt. I’ve seen they so the same thing in Jennings when you’re approaching the clinic. Where is the water supposed to to when they do this. That’s going to be another problem.
