Pedestrian Safety Concerns Raised After Near Miss on Royalton Road

A woman escaped serious injury after being struck on the arm by a speeding vehicle on Royalton Road around 6:00 AM yesterday. She received medical attention and was fitted with a brace.

Witnesses said the car was travelling at high speed and narrowly missed hitting two women.

The incident has renewed concerns over pedestrian safety, particularly for early morning walkers and joggers.

Authorities are urging caution and advising pedestrians to wear reflective clothing. Residents are also encouraged to report reckless driving.

  1. You have to be very cautious when walking on these streets especially on roads with a heavy vehicle flow. Drivers these days just don’t care about their surroundings, they drive anyhow they feel

  2. These drivers don’t care about the safety of pedestrians. You could be crossing on the pedestrian crossing and a vehicle will come at you full speed. You’ll almost believe the road only belongs to them

  3. Seen an incident yesterday at the Robinson Gas Station where a lady was crossing (already in the middle of the road) and a Kia Sportage coming from the Antigua Plumbing side, drove directly into the lady

  4. I can tell you these drivers don’t care about pedestrians not even children. You know how many times I’m on my way too work, there’s a crossing on lover All Saints just across from Brownies outlet, some drivers hardly stop and if one driver stop the other driver don’t, and that’s including some women. Sometimes I have to wonder if these people have children, brothers, sisters, aunt, uncle or parents. Antigua roads are so narrow and almost everybody does be on a road rage! And don’t talk about Lower Market Street late at nights, some drivers come down from Corn Alley turn onto the little mini roundabout in front Paradise casino and head down towards the bus Station side, where traffic supposed to be coming up, and this includes some police vehicles who should know better! But it’s the crossing for me. Why don’t drivers stop at the pedestrian crossing?

  5. All these drivers are young. First offense permits should be removed for six 6 months. Young Son of a police officer was speeding late for work and he ran into another vehicle and put the gentleman in hospital with head injuries. He’s fighting to survive. But they nar lock up the young DRIVER. 🙄

  6. @Robocar if all your seeing is young drivers your not looking as much as you should. Now a days I’ve seen all age’s. For example a very notorious road for bad drivers is independence ave. If your not a woman standing at a cross walk you will never cross the road especially in front of County pond and little cotton. These drivers will speed up just to prevent you from crossing.
