Pearl Quinn-Williams to Contest St. John’s City East in Next General Election

Opposition Senator Pearl Quinn-Williams has confirmed that she will contest the St. John’s City East constituency in the next general election, shifting from St. John’s Rural North, where she ran in 2023 under the United Progressive Party (UPP) banner.

The announcement was made in a Labour Day social media post, where Quinn-Williams referred to herself as the “former and future MP for St. John’s City East” and shared a photo standing beside former City East MP and UPP political leader Harold Lovell. Both were clad in ABWU-branded shirts during the union’s Labour Day march.

Quinn-Williams, who remains an active member of the Senate, is one of the UPP’s most prominent female politicians and continues to play a visible role in parliamentary debates and community engagement. Her decision to contest City East—formerly held by Lovell—sets the stage for a strategic challenge against the incumbent ABLP MP Melford Nicholas.

In the 2023 general election, Quinn-Williams was the UPP candidate for St. John’s Rural North, where she ran against Charles Fernandez of the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party.

While the UPP has not yet officially released its full slate of candidates, Quinn-Williams’ declaration positions her as a key figure in the party’s bid to regain urban constituencies in the capital.

  1. Pearl “FOOTS” Quinn is emptyhead just like Pringle. She brings nothing to the table. Giving an anti-CCJ speech does not translate to common sense and ability to lead ad govern.

why they didn’t give Lovell one more shot at it?

  2. Melford got away with six votes.
Thanks to the vindictivenes of a DNA candidate.
    Pearl, find him.
    Get everybody on your train.
By any and evey means possible Melford MUST be defeated.
It is obvious the elections is around the corner.
We will deal with leadership issues on the night of the elections.
Your only employment, that I know of, is in the senate
While Melford is in cabinet looking ways to scam Antiguans you have all the time on earth to be in the constituency and make yourself a household name.
    The battle has just begun.
    Victory is a MUST!!!!!

  3. These are the people that used to talk about transparency and process. But look how they just share the pie and decide who runs where. Where in this is the democracy. Did they had a primary. Did the branch elected her? No nothing like that. Just high handed picking of people and putting them in place where to run. And then they wonder why they lose election. The people that need to vote have not chosen the candidate. So why would they vote for her. Did Lovel gave her the knot.

  4. Wait, you’re joking, right? So it’s not Gomes again?….or Wehner again?….or Azille again??? So now it’s the “She-version” of multiple foots. Lolol.

  5. @ Less We Forget and Faithful National #1

So wait, its not Lamming and Regis or whoever was suppose to run in All Saints West, are you guys joking?
The people that need to vote have not chosen the candidate: Anthony Smith in the ABLP primary. So why would they vote for him.
YOU DAM BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES. Pick the beam out of your eye first before you you take the mote/speck out of another.

  6. poor SOWERBY GOMES. You tink upp nice?? When was the PRIMARY held and what is the final vote count in this PRIMARY that Pearl “won”???

No political rally like the MASSIVE CROWD at ASW to announce Barbara “Football Loser” Coates on Seaview FArm Football field?

wow! Pringle fraid crowd or covid? Or he protecting the grass for the football field?

  7. Good stuff.

Can someone tell me how to stop these add popping up before opening a story. I found those from CG United to be despicable and cringy especially that one with the lady now having this huge right ear. Who really vets these things?

  8. She is definitely not Jackie and in all fearness Jackie Quinn in stead of wasting her time with her moring babblings in the morning could have served as the Political chairperson the other lady is taking up valuable space and better be able to strategize for her party she motivated tenacious and has that well in your face Political dynamics that puts her in first place as one of Antiguan’s best female politicians Jo Ann has faded with her Political clout and dynamism so moving forward Jackie should play a more active role if they upp wants to be the next Government, Pringle lacks motivation unlike brother Harold who has the capacity to do great things charismatic and very classy should have returned to clean uo things he is still very young compared to the big Political players in the world and must come back there is no UPP without Harold Lovell
