Pearl Quinn-Williams Sworn in as Senator: A New Chapter in National Service
Mrs. Pearl Quinn-Williams officially took her oath as a Senator in the Upper House of Parliament today, marking a significant milestone in her career of public service. The ceremony, held at Government House, was presided over by His Excellency Sir Clare Roberts KCN, KC, who served as Governor General’s Deputy in the absence of His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams.
In his remarks, Sir Clare Roberts extended congratulations to Mrs. Quinn-Williams, emphasizing her notable professional background in the financial services sector and her personal commitment to fitness and wellness. He highlighted the timeliness of her appointment, referencing a recent plea from Dr. Ian Thomas at the Renal Society Fundraiser for a national focus on healthy living. Sir Clare expressed confidence that Mrs. Quinn-Williams’ advocacy could significantly contribute to addressing these pressing health challenges.
The Governor General’s Deputy reflected on the rich legacy of public service in Mrs. Quinn-Williams’ family, noting that her sister was the first woman elected to the House of Representatives in 2004. This legacy, he said, underlines a shared commitment to the progress of Antigua and Barbuda.
As Mrs. Quinn-Williams assumes her role, Sir Clare Roberts urged her to approach her Senate responsibilities with humility and diligence. He acknowledged the weight of legislative decisions and encouraged her to engage thoughtfully and collaboratively in the interest of the nation’s citizens.
The ceremony also included a reflection on the broader role of the Senate in Antigua and Barbuda’s democracy. Sir Clare expressed his personal view that an elected Senate could strengthen the nation’s democratic framework by ensuring greater independence and accountability. Drawing from his experience as an independent senator, he suggested that reforms could enhance the Senate’s ability to act as a critical check on executive power.
Sir Clare also took the opportunity to recognize the contributions of Mrs. Quinn-Williams’ predecessor, Senator Hon. Shawn Nicholas, who served in the Senate for over a decade. He commended her dedication and noted that her work provides a strong foundation for Mrs. Quinn-Williams to build upon.
In his closing remarks, Sir Clare Roberts extended his best wishes to Senator Quinn-Williams, expressing hope that her tenure would be marked by meaningful contributions to the nation’s development.
The swearing-in of Mrs. Quinn-Williams adds a dynamic voice to the Senate, reflecting a continuation of her family’s legacy of service and a renewed commitment to national progress.

Congrats to Mrs. Quinn Williams. Call the election now; it’s time to sweep out this useless ALP government.
Congrats Pearl, we’ll deserved I’m quite sure you will do a good job
“well deserved”u say????? Many are GRUMBLING AND MUMBLING!!! stay tuned!
You know it should not be that easy for people to come and secure a pension on the taxes paid for by the people. Yes perhaps it should be different for elected members. After all the people elected them. But these senators are appointed based on the leader of the party they serve.
I wonder if Pearl thinks she can come and run her mouth in the senate the same way she does on the street and on the radio. She better ask Serpent and Shuggy how that goes. Because they are very quiet in the house.
Hearty congratulations 🎊🥂🍾 to you your Honourable Pearl Quinn-Williams. Watching this as a proud and patriotic Antiguan just gladdens my heart and soul.
Yes, we’ll hear the normal HARKING and BARKING from the ABLP naysayers (who love to nosey themselves inna we business, rather than the mess this government’s made), but this will not dampen Ms Pearl Quinn-Williams or the upward trend of the UPP’S future.
🟨🟦🟨🟦 UPP getting Stronger and Stronger ✊🏾
Brix…sometimes you are pathetic
Where is the 25% YOUTH SENATE APPOINTMENT PROMISED BY UPP???????????
Brixtonian , when will you stop sounding like an ASS. UPP is completely DEMOLISHED. Hope you listened to BROWNE and BROWNE on Pointe fm on Saturday. More persons leaving by next week. Brixtonian youR Senate appointment is FROZEN. UPP is ashamed of your NONSENSE. YOU ARE A dunce.
Again, @ INGO and Inquire highlighting their very limited vocabulary and lack of intelligence, but frankly, I’ve become accustomed to these type of reactions from ABLP acolytes and Gastonites.
All their NEGATIVITY strengthens my resolve.
BRING IT …
You know Brix, the UPP is not really a Political Party. It has no philosophy that binds people together. It has you mandate other then to remove the ABLP from office. When they won the 2004 election they were completely lost what to do next. All that the UPP is, is a group of people with one common grudge. A hatred against certain people in the Labour Party Leadership. It started with the hatred for V.C. Bird. They preach a hatred for Papa Bird because they blamed him for having broken up the Teacher’s strike and the police teargassed them. The PLM remnants accused Papa of putting George Walter in Jail. The ACLM has a political phylosophy which was alligned to being a communist phylosophy. And we saw what happened to Maurice in Greneda. Tim Hector soon left that phylosophy and joint with Lester. The coming together of those party of people that had an axe to grind, is not a sustainable one, and therefore doesn’t bind anyone to the party. It would be good if they can retrospect and rebuild this party or start a new one, which and clear political phylosphy, which people can buy in to. Other than that it would just be the Party of Hate. As we can see these days, all they spread is hatred. Gaston Browne always asked himself what he has done Giselle for her to be so hatefull against him. Given that he made her the Godmother of gis son. My opinion is, because gaston reverse her appointment to be called Lady Gisselle Isaace when he took office. That must have hurt her so bad. And she is working hard to get back that title. That is why Baldwin doesn’t want any title bestowed on him by this administration. They all have grudges against the Labour Party leadership. They fail to comment on the policies. Like you Brix, all you can say is look what he is doing to the economy. But you cannot point out anything. Because ALL international agencies are applauding Antigua and Barbuda for the growth rate year after year of the economy. Therefoe no one can take you serious. You look like Chicken Little screeming, “the sky is falling”. Please get with it and help your party rebuild on solid ground. Not on hatred. That house will fall each time. Tabor said he was instructed to lie and he was tired of doing so. Joan Massiah said the same thing when she left. She was told to go on the platform and cuz labour party people. And she said that was not in her character to do. I listen to Shawn Nicholas this morning on Twin Island Media and she said she never went nasty and cuz off people. And that is why she was pushed out of the party. UPP modus of operandi. Cuz Labour Party People and you will be a good candidate. You guys and girls are a bunch of sick people. That is why todate Queen Ivena cannot get her case solve. She doesn’t want to apologies to Gaston Browne. Well when the verdict comes down she will have to find the money to pay him. And who put her up to this? Harold Lovell and Chaku. They said they will defend her case in court. Well where are they now?
@ Less We Forget, or is it @ From The Sideline?
The UPP doesn’t expect support from the likes of you, especially as you keep on about the UPP’S past and not their ever-growing present.
Why don’t you concentrate on the $100 Million dollars backpay that your idol Gaston Browne has admitted he owes to fellow hardworking Antiguans; or the missing $1 Million dollars from the hurricane Irma relief fund (promised to Barbuda) that was placed in a bank account NOMINATED by Gaston Browne – that has conveniently dissappeared; or the Freedom of Information Act request by the Honourable Richard Lewis in regards to his son’s name being linked with government building?
DO YOU WANT ME TO DIG EVEN DEEPER, IN REGARDS TO CIP AND NAMCO AS WELL?
If Gaston Browne is Antigua’s answer … what in the hell was the damn question?
… Antigua News Room is the best for POLITICAL commentary, highlighting SOCIAL issues and ABLP comedian’s like @ Less We Forget … 😂
Oh, btw @ From The Sideline (or whatever moniker you care to use), you don’t seem to know the difference between valid criticism of the ABLP/Gaston Browne and the word ‘hatred’.
I lost count after you used the word hatred over 5 times in your last verbal diatribe.
YOUR NUTS … 🤪

Brix you are really a lost case. If Browne admits to owe public servants back pay, what is wrong with that. The UPP left a lager amount for him to pay them. At least he is not running away from his responsibility. Today Public Servants get paid every month on time and even before time. Something that was not heard of under the UPP. They had to go home sometimes for three months without pay. Were it not for then intervention of the IMF who lend them 110 million USD in order to take care of some of the arrears in payments, with the promise that they would cut the wage bill and they introduce the NEST Plan. I was there so I know this first hand. I can name you all the players that came to Antigua to implement the NEST PLAN.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) supported Antigua and Barbuda’s public sector restructuring in 2009 with a three-year Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) to help the country recover from its debt crisis:
Goals: The IMF’s main goals were to help Antigua and Barbuda restore fiscal and debt sustainability.
Loan: The IMF approved a $117.8 million loan to support the country’s efforts.
Debt ratio: The IMF projected that the ratio of gross public sector debt to GDP would decline from 115% in 2009.
The global economic and financial crisis had a severe impact on Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism-dependent economy. This led to a sharp decline in government revenue and a recession, which aggravated the country’s already unsustainable fiscal position.
Now you also mention some stupid one million that got lost. When the PM explained that the money was never received because of the trouble at the bank being illiquid.
But you keep on looking everywhere were you can find a stone to throw. Or mud. Doesn’t matter. Chicken little

“…if Browne admits to owe public servants back pay, what’s wrong with that[?]…”
That’s why you’re nuts 🤪
And look how I had to correct your grammatical error, you simpleton!!!
