PDV Caribe Antigua and Barbuda (PDVCAB) is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a week of activities highlighting its role in social investment and community development.

The celebrations opened on Saturday with a gala dinner and appreciation ceremony, attended by Governor General Sir Rodney Williams and Utilities Minister Melford Nicholas.

On Sunday, staff joined worshippers at Ebenezer Methodist Church, where General Manager Jellette Ralph reflected on the company’s journey.

Events this week include media appearances, a visit to the Soup Kitchen, Customer Appreciation Day, and an outreach trip to Barbuda.

Since its launch in 2005, PDVCAB has supported major projects such as the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium and Codrington Airport, alongside hurricane relief, youth training, and its signature subsidy programme, which eases utility costs for over 5,000 residents.

Leaders say the anniversary is both a celebration of achievements and a recommitment to serving Antigua and Barbuda in the years ahead.

  1. Honestly speaking they have done alot for the economy. Especially with helping the elders with vouchers. This is why we have to remain loyal to venezuella

  2. Congratulations should go out to the visionary leader of Venezuela the late Hugo Chavez. It was his vision for a socialistic use of the wealth of his country. Sharing the wealth of a country is something Trinidad and Tobago and now Guyana have no intention of ever doing. Actually no country in the entire world has ever done such a thing. Yes he did not gave it for free, but can you imagine how much financial space he has given us by allowing us to buy oil on such preferential terms, 50% cash and 50% on credit spread over 25 years at an interest rate of only 2%. These are the things that fly against capitalism. And these are the things that made America furious at Venezuela. The only condition of Chavez was that the benefit was to be used for social programs. And indeed we developed social programs and our beneficiaries have no clue how and where the monies they are getting are coming from. And meanwhile America is doing everything to ensure this socialistic policy falls and that we again fall into hard times having to buy our oil Cash on demand and have no social programs for the poor. I do must give kudos to the then government the UPP whose Ambassodor Joan Underwood saw is wise to enter into the ALBA agreement despite knowing Washington was not please with this. And more so Antigua was able to craft out its own arrnagement. Because it takes a lot of trust from Venezuela to let us keep the monies in our banks. We were suppose to deposit these funds in ALBA Bank. Hats off for Ambassador Joan Underwood. The sad thing now is we cannot import anymore oil from Venezuela, because of the Amerrican sanctions and we cannot pay them either for oil we have purchase long before. So we are sitting on hundreds of millions of Venezuelan USDs. And that is the way of the world we live in. One country is deciding who can live, eat or trade and who cannot. How long will this last in the world.

  3. 20 years ago, nobody thought PDVCAB would become such a part of daily life here. Shows how one organization can shape a whole country quietly.
