Overcrowding Blamed for Boardwalk Collapse; Repairs Expected in Days

SOURCE ABS: Port Manager Darwin Telemaque said an excessive number of people gathered in one section of the boardwalk, overburdening the structure and causing a tile to break and collapse.

He said cruise operations have continued as normal, with repairs to the damaged area expected to be completed within two to three days. Water taxis have been relocated to the Montserrat Ferry Terminal as a precaution to prevent a recurrence.

  1. 🤣🤣🤣. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Antiguas obesity statistics are through the roof. Too much KFC!

  2. Any such structure thst cannot withstand what s called over crowding does not need to be utilized. There is always a limit to persons in an elevator, in a particular area for safety reasons even within a room or building. I hope after restructuring there will be a warning sign with limitations and prohibitions.

  3. If bullshit has a name it would be Telemaque…that boardwalk has been in a state of disrepair before the covid 19 pandemic and it was just a matter of time..OVERCROWDING YOUR ASS. Old people say an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. When GPH building the fifth berth and the new boardwalk joining that pier to heritage quay… that was the right time to have the entire boardwalk from heritage pier to the nevis street pier done. So please Mr Bullshitter don’t tell us about overcrowding
