More than 50 artists will showcase their work at the third edition of Antigua and Barbuda Art Week, organisers have announced.

The event, running from 26 November, is presented by the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) in partnership with the Department of Culture. This year’s programme will blend traditional and contemporary art, highlighting the country’s cultural diversity.

Maria Blackman, ABTA’s marketing manager, said the response from artists had been overwhelming. Participants include local talent as well as creatives from the Caribbean, the US, Canada, and the wider diaspora.

“From Haiti to Guadeloupe, the interest has been incredible,” she said. “We are thrilled to continue supporting our artists and showcasing Antigua and Barbuda on an international stage.”

Local artist Stephen Murphy, who has taken part since the event’s inception, highlighted the impact of Art Week on promoting the island’s creative talent. He cited recent sales at Carifesta in Barbados as evidence of the growing reach of Antiguan art.

The theme for 2025 is Culture in Color, reflecting a focus on authentic, local experiences through visual arts, dance, spoken word, and music. Blackman said the programme would take visitors beyond traditional venues, offering opportunities to engage directly with artists in their communities.

All artworks displayed during Art Week, including those at the airport and other public spaces, will be available for purchase. A series of sub-events is also planned throughout the festival.
