The Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA) today successfully hosted its highly anticipated Hospitality Job Fair in celebration of World Tourism Day, welcoming over 1,000 job seekers eager to pursue careers in the dynamic and growing tourism and hospitality sector.

The impressive turnout underscored the continued appeal of the industry, with hundreds of enthusiastic applicants exploring opportunities across hotels, resorts, restaurants, and service providers.

The event provided an invaluable platform for employers and potential employees to connect, highlighting the sector’s central role in the nation’s economic development.

“As we prepare for the busy high season months, we are encouraged by the level of interest shown today,” said Craig Marshall, Chairman of the ABHTA.

“The turnout and conversations we had throughout the day highlight the importance of tourism to Antigua and Barbuda’s economy and the immense potential for our people to step confidently into key roles.

This industry offers not just jobs, but meaningful career paths, and we are excited to see these talented individuals grow and thrive.”

Employers present at the fair echoed the sentiment, impressed by the caliber of candidates. Kris Krisendat, Senior Duty Manager at Cocos Hotel, shared his optimism for the future of the industry’s workforce:

“The candidates we met today showed great potential.

Many of them were school leavers who presented themselves very well and dressed professionally. It’s clear that they are ready and willing to contribute to the growth of Antigua and Barbuda’s hospitality sector.”

Kerissa Henry, Rooms Division Coordinator at Trade Winds Hotel, also praised the initiative, describing her experience as “amazing.” She noted that while many candidates were young, they were mature, focused, and clearly understood their career goals.

“This is the highest number of applicants I have ever seen at a job fair, and I must commend the ABHTA for its excellent organization,” said Henry.

“I am proud to see the younger generation pushing themselves and interviewing so well. It was truly inspiring and encouraging to witness their enthusiasm and professionalism.

I must also say that the males, in particular, stood out — they were ready, well-presented, and made a strong impression. I commend these young gentlemen for the way they carried themselves today.”

The ABHTA expressed gratitude to its partners, including Community First Cooperative Credit Union, whose support helped make the job fair a resounding success.

Today’s event reflects the ABHTA’s ongoing commitment to supporting workforce development, connecting employers with talented individuals, and strengthening the human capital that drives the tourism and hospitality industry forward.
