ABWU Sadid: More than 100 workers at Royalton Antigua are locked in a staff meeting with their union – the Antigua & Barbuda Workers Union. This follows strike action by the employees earlier this morning. Workers have raised a number of issues in the meeting, including understaffing, particularly in the housekeeping department. More to come. #workersunite#solidarity

Is this the same hotel that had bed bugs?
this government promisses jobs and more jobs with the upcoming “luxury” hotels, but he never said that they would be remunarated jobs. Lets keep building hotels!!
How ironic. Isn’t this the same hotel that has fancy over the water rooms? They should be doing well.

Wasn’t it the Prime Minister who called on the Unions to negotiate for better wages for the hotel workers. All they do is go and eat their belly full, having free lunches and diners, while the staff is under paid. If they the union were more pro-active the staff would not have come to this point of taking action themselves. Leave the government out of it. This is the job of the union, to take care of their members welfare. The government has done their part. They brought in the investor.
the union needs to be pushing for an increase in the basic wage, better more secure contracts and for reduced workloads. The hospitality sector is taking millions in profit and pushing down workers at the same time. What kind of spineless organization is this union that wont stand up for its members?
