Ottos Comprehensive School, still reeling from a recent shooting incident, is receiving support to address resulting challenges.
Clare Browne, Director of Education, announced increased security starting today. The Ministry of Education is reallocating counselors to provide specialized sessions for OCS staff and students.
Browne noted ongoing trauma from the YMCA complex shooting, which disrupted a sports event and led to low attendance.
He acknowledged obstacles in fully mobilizing support due to subsequent events.
Despite mid-term holidays and report card day, Browne visited the school to address unease and emphasize the need for a safe learning environment.
Jaheim Mannix, 18, faces charges for firing shots near the school’s sports complex.
