
A 29-year-old Ottos resident who admitted to illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition has been remanded until later this month for sentencing.
Otis Jackson pleaded guilty on Monday before Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel to charges stemming from his arrest on December 11.
Police said officers on mobile patrol stopped and searched Jackson’s vehicle along Tindale Road around 9 p.m., where they discovered a 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.
Jackson was taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. The weapon, ammunition and his vehicle were seized and taken to Police Headquarters, where they remain.
Sentencing has been set for December 29.
