Pringle highlighted the importance of accountability and called for the introduction of mandatory national ID requirements for all citizens, especially youths, as a means of ensuring proper identification during curfew hours.
Pringle expressed concern that young individuals could easily mislead law enforcement officers by providing false names when stopped for curfew violations, which could complicate enforcement efforts.
He suggested that carrying a national ID should be mandatory for everyone, stating, “We have to now start to get serious about having control of the system by not speculating.
Because as a young person, you can approach me, and if you approach me and I know I’m going to be in trouble, I give you a name of an individual that I know is over the age of 16 or 18. But then, between the time that you’re doing a verification, the child gone about their business and you did not get the right name.”

In addition to the curfew, Pringle recommended that citizens be required to carry a national ID for easy identification by law enforcement agencies or other authorities.
He explained that this would help prevent the misuse of false information during curfew hours, facilitating smoother enforcement.
During his remarks, Pringle reflected on his own experiences growing up, recounting a time when he and his siblings were mistakenly punished due to a misunderstanding.
He shared a story about his blind uncle mistakenly reporting to their mother that they were playing outside late at night when it was only four o’clock in the afternoon.
This humorous personal anecdote emphasized the importance of accurate information and vigilance in the home and community.
Pringle urged urging lawmakers to seriously consider his suggestions as part of the broader efforts to enforce the curfew effectively, emphasizing that a national ID requirement would prevent potential loopholes in the system.

Them lucky because if it was up to me, it would have been from 6pm to 6am…. Only those with a note from the parent or guardian with a valid reason as to why they are on the road after curfew hours with there number attached to it can maybe be obliged Incase stopped by the authorities, apart from those who actually have a job(s) the curfew can be set for 10.
Boy, this whole curfew thing have me a little uncomfortable.
Even though I understand it’s purpose and trust me it’s super important.
I can’t help but feel it won’t work the way they are saying it Will.
I can’t forget been forced to be locked in my house during covid
Again it was important for all of us.
But what doesn’t help is that video that surfaced for all of us to watch with the Pm son and friends on a boat saying “no f…ing rules” that was hard to watch.
Look it’s not just here in Antigua alone if you can remember a certain British PM lost power for the same thing, he was having parties while having his country under lockdown.
I get Gaston you are trying to do something good but make sure it is across the board, it applies to everyone.
Because this is an infringement on a person human and civil rights…

Asking people to carry id cards is never a good thing.
A few people or moments in history comes to mind.
It sounds good but it’s really not a good idea…
