OPM warns public of fake Gaston Browne Facebook pages

2

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) this week issued an alert for persons to be on the lookout for malicious individuals who are creating fake social media profiles of Prime Minister Gaston Browne and other public officials.

The OPM says it has been made aware of the appearance of several fake profiles on Facebook of Prime Minister Browne, some of which are soliciting funds from the public.

The general public is therefore informed that there are only two official Facebook profiles that are associated with Prime Minister Gaston Browne; his personal profile, which carries an official photograph of his family, and the Office of the Prime Minister Facebook page which carries a photograph of the Lower House of Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda.

The Public is further advised that these two pages are used only for information purposes and at no time will solicit any donation in cash or kind or NGO Grants from any member of the public.  If persons are suspicious of any social media page alledging to represent Prime Minister, feel free to contact the communications department of the Office of the Prime Minister at 562-3860 and lodge a complaint or voice a suspicion.
