Two Young Lives Wiped From Life

Real mothers are crying for the lives taken, one killed and the killer! Two handsome fellows, one clearly cared for and brought up to be kind and smiling.

The other one, clearly a tough life raised him for the rough way of life, unsmiling and deadly, but some mother loves them both, and we are all crying for the two lives lost.

Lost in race as we love the nice-looking fair-skinned young man, the darkness of the deed envelopes the other one pictured against a dark background of crime and violence, and, if we were in the U.S. South we know a lynching would have taken place.

Suddenly Antigua has been plunged into dark realization of killing young men on our tiny island of 108 sq. miles, where there is nowhere to run, no state or borderline to escape, there is only jail in 1735 which is death in slow motion. We have lost two young men.

Lost in an island which cares nothing for young people, and see their education only through edifices and books, young men for the most part do not know their fathers, there are no role models from whom trickle down male values which generate humanity; only toxic masculinity now being expressed through guns.

There is no champion pat on the back for our sons from their fathers, and sad to say this exists even in two parent households.

The real man is missing in parenting, and our boys are exhibiting their failure of fathering.

When adults who are parents, choose to place young boys aged 13 to 17 in prison, in right next to the maximum security section before trial, it shows the lack of sensitivity in our Justice system and the failure of our Social Services.

Confused, we face the senseless rape of a woman who could be a young grandmother, committed by a 13 year old and other teenagers; we must face the signs that we have gang initiation taking place, and that is a very bad sign.

Antigua has played around with ganglife before, and we thought we had overcome it when its powerful leaders moved to the next level of business and life.

These teenagers are not mis-behaving within the corridors of mischief to which we are accustomed, this type of criminal activity is new, and signs of ganglife which must not be trivialized and coupled with ‘normal’ crime.

In this emergency fight to pull back our youth from ganglife, we are all involved, unresolved, we all will be consumed!

  1. That was extremely tragic….so so sad ..I have 2 sons so i can relate.
Condolences to the parents and family members …So Sorry for your loss.

  2. No where in this are you holding women accountable. Woman hold one important position and that is opening their legs to guys who are wutless and have no positive characteristics. Majority of you females breed for dutty dunce fellas and expect your youths will turnout to be good upstanding people. You deal with guys who have multiple baby mothers and disregard the hard working good men out there and when the youths turnout bad you want to only point fingers at the fathers. Before that child was born you knew the guy wasn’t worth sh*t but u still open your legs because he had an image. You reap what you sow you lay with dogs n you catch fleas so instead of looking to society to parent your bad ass children, step up and hold the wultless guys n baby mothers accountable. It takes two to bring a child into this world and man cannot make a child unless a woman open her legs. Many of you women in Antigua are some pure dunce females walking around like dem stray dogs getting pregnant by wutless fellas. Many of you females afraid of real man because you will be held accountable and have to prove yourself to be worthy of that man.

  3. Many of you females both young n old, college educated and non-college educated females want to live this love and hip hop, thot, hook up life and as a result a child is developed and you think this man who you only known for two days or a week is going to be upstanding and stick around to be a father lol. It’s funny how many of u females like picking guys who have multiple baby mothers but you as a female think you will be the one this guy chose to be with and settle down with or you feel u can convince him to pic you😂😂 majority of households in Antigua are ran by females and majority of these young fellas in prison or out in the streets are raised by females so how you think we are going to have a better society lol. Females make decisions based on feelings not logics. Real men make decisions on logics and analyzing things. You have all these young boys out in these streets making decisions off feelings instead of analyzing and being logical. This is all the results of boys being raised by females with no real man in the house, these boys making decisions off feelings.

  4. It’s a societal problem. It’s our education system. It’s our political problem- get rich my any means. We borrow millions upon millions from rich countries without any feasibility studies- UWI and Cancer center. It’s a selfish society to each his own. So when these delinquent young men are left to raise themselves without any intervention this will be the end result. Take for example the machinist that are here working from Guyana. Why not have let’s say the one From brother B on airport road or Sammy/ fabric became a training ground for our youngsters. Hey the saying is true the devil finds work for idle hands.
Look at Yasco and look at the two building to the west. The NTTC building turned into a ghost town hoisting millions from the treasury and the ABLP building next door sure if an inquiry is held into how that was built heads roll. The point I am making however at YASCO no seats , no proper toilets and that is how you expect your young people to behave?
Look at the behavior of our politicians- greed , only for themselves. Just drive across where some of them live and you see the vechicles upon vechicles they own. Showing off how they are advancing by robbing this country blindly. Then you expect the youth to be different. Then listen to them in parliament- their behavior stinks, they use the protection and even abuse people that are not there to defend themselves. They rape and plunder our country instead of building and planning. They are the gangs of greedy individuals , they have plundered, raped and killed Antigua and Barbuda, Antiguans and Barbudans over and over. Monkey see what monkey do.
Those that we celebrate that sponsor everything, cricket, netball, Carnival and rumors say were the ones that imported guns into this country now their country men are getting killed are suggesting to the police to give assistance. In Antigua first you corrupt, then you wash with the politicians and then you become squeaky clean. Then you expect our youngsters to act differently.
Did you listen to the church service recently held in the big church over woods. Them preachers are in it for the money. They have no moral backbone- it’s about duty free and favors. Where is the Christian council now- our youngsters are going astray and your silence is deafening.
So we need a change right now and only in Antigua people in charge do not resign or forced to resign.

  5. @ Frankly Speaking and Lionman. I have been preaching the same sentiments ebryday. Fatherless families. Multiple baby daddies in a little place like Antigua. The bling grab, corruption allover, the non Blackman religion that does nothing to uplift us, no social programs, no role models. No repercussions for these big dutty men, who impregnate these underage girls. And then there will be the fleshlust Carnival coming up. Woe be into us.

  6. It will get worse for Antigua is a society of post colonialism “NEPO BABIES”, the “money grabbers” and those with “Natures Passport”.
Until the rest of you realize the social structure in which you live; you will continue to bicker at each other while failing at bringing about change.
It’s sickening to see that this portal, one of the most popular platforms for Antiguans chooses to run such a racist article, while my comments are not brought out on monitoring mode
I will not be surprised if this comment sits in monitoring mood until the article gets buried in the archives.

  7. Which story is this article relating to? Can’t be the two innocent, hardworking, jobial etc. men that died on the construction site? Impossible

This Arthur is clearly in and from a different world. Oh n defaming and disrespectful to one of the deceased n his family too. Sad people

  8. Blame it on the rain that was fallin’, fallin’
Blame it on the stars that didn’t shine that night
Whatever you do, don’t put the blame on you
Blame it on the rain, yeah, yeah….
    Antigua better wake up
It’s time to stop the blame game, it’s not going to help shit. It’s not going to solve the problem. Yes, parents are to be blamed to some extent for their failure to properly raise their children, but can blaming help the situation? And oh, while on the blaming game, I’ve heard it was the influx of Jamaican migrants, Dominican migrants, Guyanese migrants, etc, etc, who brought to the beautiful shores of this little paradise, all of their cultural bad influence of crimes, thievery, murder, rape, gangsterism, and all of the scourge never known to likkle Antigua. But as the plank is removed from your eyes, and the veil from your face, you realize that most of the criminals are home grown, some of them not even grown up as yet. The reality is however, Antigua needs to wake up and wake up fast or else she might die in her sleep. Stop blaming and take decisive action. There’s only one solution to the problem, and that is everyone must be held accountable and take responsibility for his/ her own actions. Every action, decision, choice, have consequences, whether good or bad. And as a society, most of us as parents, elders, leaders, guardians, failed to instill this into our children from the cradle. We’ve adopted the culture that disciplining our children is archaic and abusive, so we allowed them to do as the please and to make their own choices without facing any consequences whatsoever. We are today reaping the fruit of our labor. Sow to the wind and you will reap the world wind. While it might be a bit late to try to bend these hardened branches, it’s not too late to lay the axe at the root of the wayward trees. The use of force is sometimes necessary to achieve a desired result, it either bend or break. So what’s it going to be, cry for the rest of our lives, or grab the proverbial bull by the horns and let it know that it’s endgame time.
