The UPP’s Web of Deceit: A Party’s Credibility in Tatters

The United Progressive Party’s (UPP) penchant for spreading lies and misinformation has reached a critical point. Their tactics, designed to garner public sympathy, have instead led to a crisis of credibility. It is time to shine a light on the UPP’s duplicitous behavior and demand an end to their deceitful practices.

A recent example of Wayne Marsh’s false claim of an assassination attempt serves as a stark reminder of the UPP’s willingness to manipulate the truth for political gain. This incident is not an isolated case; rather, it is part of a larger pattern of behavior that has become synonymous with the UPP.

Their strategy is simple: spread misinformation, create confusion, and hope that the public will buy into their narrative. However, this approach has ultimately led to their downfall. The public is no longer buying what the UPP is selling. Their words are being cast aside as mere propaganda and political rhetoric designed to falsely gain relevance.

The UPP’s lack of credibility is a direct result of their own actions. By consistently spreading lies and misinformation, they have eroded the trust of the public. It is time for the UPP to take responsibility for their actions and to stop their deceitful practices.

What is most outrageous is that a purportedly earnest journalist like Jacqui Quin continues to operate like a paid UPP mouthpiece. These superficial operatives on the public airwaves have shown themselves to be disingenuous and unscrupulous.

As highlighted by the Brennan Center for Justice, election misinformation can have serious consequences, including the erosion of trust in elections and the suppression of voter turnout. The UPP’s actions are not only harmful to their own credibility but also to the democratic process as a whole.

It is time for the UPP to change its ways and start being honest with the public. Serious individuals are no longer fooled by their tactics. The party needs to take a long, hard look at its practices and make a genuine effort to regain the trust of the public.

Anything less is unacceptable. The people of Antigua and Barbuda deserve better than a party that consistently prioritizes deception over honesty. It is time for the UPP to stop their web of deceit and start being truthful. The nation is waiting.

  1. Who let the dawgs out? The ABLP DAWGS are out barking like they’re rabid. The ABLP CABAL OF THIEVES talking about deceit, bribery, crookedness, bad-mindedness?
Asot’s Jumby is already haunting them. No wonder they’re running around like rabid dogs! Can someone please call The Animal Control, the pest control and the sanitation department?

  2. Yep. Wayne is done politically:

This is the man’s reaction after a “gunshot” rings out in an “assassination” attempt that the police have already debunked.

Another lying lawyer. A disgrace. Knows he cant win against Chet on any merit and tried to make himself a professional victim like the likke black boy.

The UPP has never been at a lower point. Pure LeaderSH*T left right and center.

    Dunce divisive puppet leader.

    Scared MPs with zero substance.

Delayed launch of the promised first 10 candidates.

A political deadbeat in St. Peter.

  3. This is not only UPP but he is a SHAME AND DISGRACE TO THE LAW PROFESSION!!!

Where is the BAR ASSOCIATION TO CONDEMN THIS REPREHENSIBLE BEHAVIOR OF ONE OF ITS OWN???

  4. I am fully aware that at this point the ABLP is far ahead of the UPP. Since the UPP convention and implosion it has been all down hill. What is disheartening is that at this point we have no opposition to watch the cookie jar. . Just before the UPP convention all can remember the UPP pressuring the Prime Minister about his son’s acquisition of government property on the oil refinery/ Friar’s Hill Road. Even that is now under the carpet. I am hearing about so much corruption and no one to ensure or bring to light. Question: who is responsible for the earthworks at the horse track? Is it true that a friend of a friend was handed a 15 million dollar, kick back deal. Is there a qualified engineer and project manager handling this civil works. Baba black sheep do you have any wool .. same with the construction of renovations of St.John’s police station. Have these million dollars contracts gone out to tender as required by law. Then there is the supply of heavy duty equipment as well. Heard that equipment are bought and sold to government in this case more than by a 1000%. We need a good opposition people of Antigua. There is a clip when the PM sounded as scared as ever. Threatening his PMs that if any of them try something because of this slim majority he was going to call elections and done them. In that interview he even mentioned that he was speaking to Anthony Smith.
I am not seeing any silver lining. Seeing the UPP continues to decline and the corruption escalating.
So we need a group of business men and women, religious leaders and other groups like chamber of commerce to watch the cheese.
We have a booming economy and only the poor are being pressured to pay up. The government is riding on the backs of those small suppliers and service providers. Then coming up with all sorts of tactics not to pay. Does the Baba black sheep contractor have to get certificates of good standing to collect the millions. Is he audited like Sandals.
If this rip off stops Antiguas should be walking on streets of gold.
Is this what the top dog means by creative enrichment.. His ability to be creative…. His ministers to be creative and enrich themselves and their families.
Hon. Anthony Smith , your decision to jump ship has far more lasting consequences than you can ever imagine. Far more than the ham and turkey, far more than clearing your personal debts. It’s about Antigua and Barbuda. The people had sent a clear message in the last general elections. You the opposition messed up that trust placed in you to be the people’s watch dogs. Now is only the rat watching the cheese.

  5. Wayne Marsh had all right to be very concerned like any sensible person. Suppose he had gotten shot and the perpetrator ‘get rid of the gun however he see fit’? We have to condemn the utterances of lawless officials in our state.
