Work on the landmark US$465 million One&Only Half Moon Bay Resort is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026, Prime Minister Gaston Browne revealed during Thursday’s Budget Presentation.

The project is positioned as one of the most significant luxury tourism investments in the country’s history.

Browne said the long-anticipated ultra-luxury development will create 400 construction jobs, with hundreds more expected once the resort opens. He described the project as a major catalyst for Antigua and Barbuda’s high-end tourism market, signalling continued investor confidence even amid global economic uncertainty.

The Prime Minister identified the One&Only development as part of a wider slate of large-scale tourism investments coming on stream — including Murby Resorts, Nikki Beach Barbuda, the Buccaneer Beach Project, and expanded Nobu operations — projects he said will collectively reshape the country’s hospitality landscape.

The One&Only brand, known for its elite clientele and premium service standards, is expected to attract significant international attention once construction is underway.

Browne said the resort will boost job creation, strengthen linkages with local contractors and service providers, and contribute to higher visitor spending when operational.

The government is expected to release more details on construction timelines and associated community infrastructure as project preparations advance.

  1. We’ve been there before…. I’ll believe it when I see it…. MoonGate is almost ready to start receiving guests and that’s a local brand…. I hope and pray they’re getting concessions like these international companies
