One new case of COVID-19 in Antigua

(Dashboard Update for January 19, 2021)

 

The most recent report received by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment from the Mount St. John’s Medical Center (MSJMC) has revealed one new laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda as of Monday 18th January 2021 at 6pm.

 

Subsequent to the publication of the dashboard for Sunday 17th January 2021 with the cut off time of 6pm, one hundred and twelve additional samples were processed at the Mount St. John’s Medical Center which increased the pending results from fifty-four to one hundred and sixty-six.

 

Of the one hundred and sixty-six samples processed by MSJMC, one hundred and sixty-five were negative and one positive. The single new case is imported. An investigation has been launched into the new case and contact tracing and testing is in progress.

 

One new recovery has been recorded bringing that total to one hundred and fifty-seven.

 

Consequently, the total number of persons with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is one hundred and ninety (190); which is inclusive of twenty-seven (27) active cases.

 

Meanwhile, one hundred and four samples are pending.

 

The dashboard has been updated to reflect these changes.

      Thousands of people are dying every day from this disease and yet the Antiguan government has instituted discriminatory and illogical protocols that do absolutely nothing to protect the citizens from disease vectors arriving from high COVID countries.

          The truth is this government could have implemented sensible protocols to protect their citizens but chose not to because the wealthy and elite didn’t want to have to shoulder any of the burden of the pandemic.

          The truth is the PM could have stopped taking a salary immediately and cut the salaries of the wealthy minsters and pensions of the wealthy former ministers to keep money in the treasury.

          They could have let LIAT go bankrupt and sold off it’s assets to pay those workers who still haven’t been paid. Instead the Antiguan government is pouring what 500K into a dying airline every month.

          • We don’t know what the long-term ramifications of being infected with COVID are.

            But what we’ve seen so far is that thousands of people are dying from it every day. That is not something to be minimized.

            we’ve seen people re-infected weeks after recovering from an initial infection

            We’ve seen young, healthy people drop dead suddenly of MI and strokes.

            We are seeing a new variant that is more virulent in children and more children are being admitted to ICUs with this strain of SARS-2.

            We’ve seen people with reactivated disease after recovering from their initial infection like happens with other viruses such as VZ and HSV1 and HSV2.

            We are now seeing new variants of this disease that are more infectious and/or nonreactive to neutralizing antibodies. Meaning if these variants continue to spread around the world the existing vaccines may not work on them.

            This is a disease where ICU and ER doctor after doctor have described it as the worst thing they’ve ever encountered.

            So yes, numbskull this is something that should be taken with the utmost seriousness.

            And that is precisely what the Antiguan government has failed to do with their ridiculous protocols of letting in people from high COVID regions without testing them on arrival and without quarantining them.

            So keep up the propaganda if you must. I hope you’re getting paid for it.

  4. So much sickness in this world the media magnify covid only, to instill fear in the people . Fire is St.johns and a fire truck goes to St. Paul to wet up all the houses does that make sense. Alot of things dont make sense with this plandemic, hypocrisy, controversy and greed
