One new case of COVID-19

(Dashboard Update for November 30, 2020)

The most recent reports received by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment from the Mount St. John’s Medical Center (MSJMC) has revealed one new laboratory confirmed COVID-19 case in Antigua and Barbuda as of Sunday 29th November 2020 at 6pm.

Subsequent to the publication of the dashboard on Sunday 29th November 2020 with the cut off time of 6pm, twenty-one samples were processed at the Mount St. John’s Medical Center’s Laboratory which increased the pending results from zero to twenty-one.

Of the twenty-one samples processed by MSJMC, twenty were negative and one positive.  The single positive case was imported.  

Consequently, the total number of persons with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is one hundred and forty-two (142) with eight (8) active cases.

Meanwhile, sixty-one samples were sent to CARPHA earlier today (November 30th 2020).

The dashboard has been updated to reflect these changes.

  1. My fellow Antiguans and Barbudans. We do NOT all there is to know about the Covid-19 killer disease, but we enough to practise those strategies that will keep us and our familly and friends healthy and safe. Wear a mask, practise social distances and sound hygiene.
    Eat healthy foods, rest well and engage in some forn of regular, physical activity.

    • Yep best advise because we have some lunatics here who think all we need to do is test tourists and covid will run away. Funny thing is the US Whitehouse with its daily testing proves testing alone will not stop covid

      • Who enters the country

        Washing your hands and wearing a mask is not enough when thousands of potential disease vectors are let into the country each month

        It’s completely negligent to let people in from high COVID areas without testing and quarantining them.

    • Barbados, the country used by the opposition fanatics, as a country we should mimic is now on 16 active cases, two just today. They had 5 active Nov 18th. As Dr. Simon said a few months ago, testing will not keep you from getting covid, its wearing a mask/ social distancing, washing your hands. Germany, which was once internationally acclaimed for mass testing is now seeing more cases during the second wave than it did during the first. During the first wave the highest new cases in a day was about 7K, just today they had a little over 15K, Nov 20 saw them with almost 24K new cases.

        And when a positive case is identified they can isolate, treat and quarantine that person before he or she spreads covid around Barbados

        Are you so dimwitted that you think not identifying the diseased folks at the airport and quarantining them is a better idea?

        Here’s a clue Antigua has just as many infected people entering the country as Barbados. The only difference is Antigua let’s those people roam freely and infect the rest of us.

      • Cases are NOT INFECTIONS.

        PCR testing does NOT prove the person is infected with covid-19. If the test is amplified over 35 time (which they sometimes are) they usually show false positives. The inventor of the PCR test said that they shouldn’t be used for testing because it was never designed for that. Furthermore, the MORE testing that is done, the more false positive tests there will be.

        Fact: A live ‘covid-19 virus has NEVER been isolated. All knowledge about the virus based on modeling of fragments of the virus. Therefore, nobody can scientifically PROVE the virus even exists!

        • Yep especially since its known that the PCR testing being done by Barbados ( , the US FDA pointed out there are flaws. just 3 months ago the US FDA issued a warning regarding the same tech (The TaqPath™ RT-PCR COVID-19) creating too many inaccurate results (see Risk of Inaccurate Results with Thermo Fisher Scientific TaqPath COVID-19 Combo Kit – Letter to Clinical Laboratory Staff and Health Care Providers | FDA ) . Upgrades/updates have been done, but these solutions have only so far been given emergency use authorization. In essence this approval means these solutions have not been thoroughly tested

  3. If Sally and Jim who have COVID fly to Barbados on Friday with a negative COVID certificate, they will be tested on arrival, found to be positive and quarantined.

    And the number of cases of COVID in Barbados will increase by 2.

    If Sally and Jim who have COVID fly into Antigua on Friday, they will not be tested or quarantined and they will be free to go to Epicurean, the movies and remove their masks while they eat, bars and restaurants where they remove their masks, and interact with resort staff. They may even visit houses of prostitution or engage in such activities with male and female Antiguans who are paid for such things. Spreading disease wherever they go.

    But the number of COVID cases will not increase in Antigua because Sally and Jim and the people they infected will never be tested in Antigua.

    That’s why the numbers provided by Antigua are not reliable.

    Also positive PCR for COVID does equal an infected person. There are false positives which are rare. And positives are retested at some point so that would be discovered anyway.

    • Guy BDS protocol is they are tested after being there for 2 days and you may get the result back the next day(that’s their hope). Fact is the testing done in BDS, due to their need to get quick results are less accurate than the tests done by either CARPHA or MSJ. The test used by their (BDS)partner Stage Zero Life Sciences, which enables them to meet the 3 day window, have in the past (early august) been flagged by the US FDA as providing too many false results. The WHO has also flagged it. Upgrades/Updates have been pushed, but this shows the flaw in your argument of thinking all we need do is test. What we need to do is continue to follow the protocol of mask wearing/ social distancing, hand washing. Germany which was hailed a few months ago for its high level of testing has seen numbers more than double during the second wave. Just today so far they have had +11,565 cases

        Four German holidaymakers who were illegally quarantined in Portugal after one was judged to be positive for Covid-19 have won their case, in a verdict that condemns the widely-used PCR test as being up to 97-percent unreliable.
        Earlier this month, Portuguese judges upheld a decision from a lower court that found the forced quarantine of four holidaymakers to be unlawful. The case centered on the reliability (or lack thereof) of Covid-19 PCR tests.

        The verdict, delivered on November 11, followed an appeal against a writ of habeas corpus filed by four Germans against the Azores Regional Health Authority. This body had been appealing a ruling from a lower court which had found in favor of the tourists, who claimed that they were illegally confined to a hotel without their consent. The tourists were ordered to stay in the hotel over the summer after one of them tested positive for coronavirus in a PCR test – the other three were labelled close contacts and therefore made to quarantine as well.
