Valley Church Beach Theft: One Man Jailed, Second Cleared

A man has been jailed for stealing a visitor’s bag at Valley Church Beach, while a second suspect has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Damien Henry, 24, of Bathlodge, was sentenced to 18 months after pleading guilty to larceny before Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel. His co-accused, 20-year-old Terry Williams of Nut Grove, was found not guilty and had all charges withdrawn.

The theft occurred on Tuesday afternoon when two visitors reported that their bag had been taken while they were swimming. A witness told security that a man had grabbed the bag and fled in an orange Honda Fit.

Officers from the Bolans and Johnson’s Point police stations coordinated the response, intercepting the vehicle in Johnson’s Point a short time later. Both men were detained and the stolen bag, along with all its contents, was recovered.

  1. The accomplice freed? Just because the other took the rap. It’s time all of them feel the squeeze but the law is already written.

Maybe he got a ride, maybe he didnt know, maybe just maybe God is talking to him to change his companions and get a relationship with Jesus

  2. Well done for the police to capture the villains.

    Poor response from the courts.

Instead of jail time, both should have faced a consequence that they dread.

200 hours of community service, go clean the village, do some actual work.

And just so they don’t forget, crush the orange Honda Fit while they watch.

Let them learn that their actions have consequences.

Instead, one gets off with nothing, the other goes to crime school, free food and lodging for a little while

  3. Not begging for this young man, because if you do the crime, you do the time.

But look how justice is swift for this young man..the public outcry was made and they make sure they punished this dude quick a fast.

But no joke here, what happens to the swift justice in many other cases where tourists are not involved? The swift justice for Chantel, didn’t the accuser confess to the killings as well? Where is the justice for Manny, who was shot down by some corrupt cops.
The student that was mowed down by the driver, the same one who left the seen.

So we have swift justice for the little boy that steal a bag, but when it comes to murder, justice is delayed?

And what happened to the vehicle theft,$15mil. They(GB) know who the bad actors are..he knows everything, so where is the swift justice?

Make it make sense. This judicial system In Antigua needs a serious rinse out.

  4. Them have on them hoodie for them undercover activity high day time , long sleeve hoodie in a hot country because no snow here to be wearing these long sleeve hoodies. Police should stop them and search and photograph them, whether white or black don’t tip toe around them, and this police abusing rights thing won’t cut it for no sympathy.

  5. Wait. So if the act was committed against a tourist at night it wouldn’t be a problem? Antigua.news I see you have here “The crime had been committed against a tourist in broad daylight, circumstances which the court viewed unfavourably.” I can’t read so much so help me out here
