Senator Michael Freeland has congratulated golfer Omorry James on winning this year’s New Winthorpes Golf Champions title, following a thrilling finish at Cedar Valley Golf Club.
James sealed victory with a dramatic birdie on the final hole, securing his fourth Antigua Open crown and capping a strong showing for the St George community.
Senator Freeland praised James for his consistency and determination, describing the achievement as “a proud moment for New Winthorpes and for St George.”
He also commended the Weatherill family, who dominated their divisions — Nicole Weatherill winning the Ladies Division ahead of her twin sister, Kimberlyn, and their father, Tedson, capturing the Men’s A Class title.
“Well done to all the competitors and champions,” Senator Freeland said, adding that the performances reflected the “talent and unity” of the local golfing community.
