The calypso fraternity is mourning the loss of another icon.
Prolific calypso writer Rupert ‘Likkle Man’ Pelle passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness.
Pelle penned many songs for calypsonians in Antigua and Barbuda.
He wrote the winning calypso pieces in the Junior Calypso Monarch Competition for 8 consecutive years from 2000 to 2007.
The winners were Lady Challenger (2000-2002), Princess Thalia (2003-2004) and Lyricksman (2005-2007).
During the 2019 Independence celebrations, Pelle was named a member of the Most Precious Order of Princely Heritage (MH) for distinguished contribution in the field of music and community service.
Calypsonians Tyrone “Edimelo” Thomas, Sir Rupert “King Swallow” Philo and Joseph “Calypso Joe” Hunte all passed away this year.
