The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) is set to play a central role in strengthening Antigua and Barbuda’s national resilience during the hosting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Officials say the agency will be responsible for emergency planning related to natural hazards and major incidents throughout the event, as well as coordinating inter-agency responses should a crisis arise.
NODS will also oversee public safety communication systems and implement medical and evacuation contingency plans to ensure a swift and effective response in the event of an emergency.
Readiness teams will be deployed at key CHOGM venues, providing on-the-ground support during the presence of international leaders.
Authorities say the measures are aimed at ensuring Antigua and Barbuda remains fully prepared to manage any potential scenario during the high-level summit.
