NODS Clears the Way for Normalcy After Tropical Storm Philippe

0

The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) has issued the “all clear” signal as Antigua and Barbuda recover from a 36-hour onslaught of wind and rain brought by Tropical Storm Philippe.

During the storm, four shelters provided refuge for those seeking safety, including Pigotts Primary School, Greenbay Primary School, Sir Novelle Richards Academy in Potters, and St. Paul’s Empowerment Centre in Liberta.

All individuals have since returned to their homes. Barbuda reported less rainfall than Antigua, with an unused shelter.

NODS received over 30 search and rescue requests, primarily due to widespread flooding.

Firefighters faced challenging winds when tackling a significant fire at Falmouth Harbour’s Yacht Club Marina.
