The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) has been assisting the Caribbean Disaster Management Agency (CDEMA) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with the transportation of well-needed items to residents in St Vincent.
Two-hundred dignity kits – containing personal items primarily for women and girls, were sent to St Vincent today (Friday).
In recent times, residents there have been monitoring activity from the La Soufriere Volcano and have also been trying to cope with the effects of the Covid-19 virus along with the rest of the world.
The effort to transport the kits was made possible through support from the Customs Department, the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force, the Ministry of Works, the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority and the Regional Security System (RSS).
This is the first of two shipments that will be made.
