Tsunami Information Statement

This is a Tsunami Information Statement to inform the public and authorities that, based on current data, there is no tsunami threat to Antigua and Barbuda following the recent seismic activity.

Preliminary Earthquake Parameters:

  • Magnitude: 6.1
  • Origin Time and Date: 6:22 AST (2222 UTC) September 24, 2025
  • Coordinates: 10.0° North, 70.9° West
  • Depth: 10 km/6 miles
  • Location: Venezuela

Evaluation:

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 occurred in northern Venezuela at 6:22 am on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

Based on all available data, there is no significant tsunami threat from this earthquake. However, there is a very small possibility of tsunami waves along the Caribbean coasts located nearest the epicentre.
