No Florida oranges yet

The government has not acted upon a Cabinet decision to import oranges from Florida, Chief of Staff Lionel Max Hurst has announced.

The Cabinet decided to allow oranges from Florida, USA, to enter Antigua and Barbuda, more than one month ago, on Thursday, April 5, 2018.

The decision was based on the destruction of the orange groves in Dominica which resulted in the absence of oranges from the local market.

The Cabinet says it was persuaded that any pests from Florida are not likely to affect citrus fruit plants growing in Antigua.
