George Akeba Chiddick has been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison after his initial appearance in St. John’s Magistrate Court on serious firearm charges.
The Gray’s Farm resident is accused of shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possessing a .32 pistol and matching bullet, and using a firearm to commit an offence.
The charges relate to an incident at his George Street home last Tuesday, where a young woman was shot in the leg.
Magistrate Dale Hamilton Jr. stated that bail for firearm offences can only be granted by the High Court. Committal proceedings are scheduled for October 10 to determine if the case will proceed to the High Court.
