Nicki Minaj posts photo of Trump “Gold Card,” fueling speculation about fast-tracked citizenship
Rapper Nicki Minaj on Wednesday posted a photo of President Donald Trump’s so-called “Gold Card,” prompting speculation that she may have purchased the high-priced immigration document that offers a fast-tracked path to U.S. citizenship.
Minaj shared the image on social media Wednesday afternoon with the caption “Welp…,” displaying what appeared to be a physical Trump “Gold Card.” The program requires a $1 million contribution to the U.S. Treasury and a $15,000 non-refundable processing fee.
The post came hours after Minaj appeared alongside Trump to promote his “Trump Accounts” initiative, which seeks to provide tax-advantaged investment accounts for U.S. citizens under the age of 18.

Minaj, who moved to the United States as a child from Trinidad and Tobago, is a legal permanent resident. She said in 2024 that she was not a U.S. citizen despite paying millions of dollars in U.S. taxes.
During the summit promoting the accounts, Minaj described herself as “probably the president’s number one fan.” Trump said the rapper was investing hundreds of thousands of dollars into the Trump Accounts program.
Minaj has faced backlash in recent months for her alignment with the Trump administration. Responding to criticism on Wednesday, she said the “hate, or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all.”
According to the Gold Card program’s website, applicants must submit an application, undergo a background check by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, attend a visa interview and provide additional documentation if required. Once approved, cardholders receive lawful permanent resident status under EB-1 or EB-2 visa categories. Additional fees may apply depending on individual circumstances.

The program also plans to introduce a higher-tier “Platinum Card,” which would require a $5 million contribution and allow holders to spend extended periods in the United States without being taxed on non-U.S. income.
Minaj’s recent political engagement has drawn scrutiny from some fans, particularly following her appearance at a Turning Point USA event in December, where comments she made during a discussion on gender and faith were criticized as anti-trans. The rapper had previously positioned herself as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and was an outspoken critic of Trump’s immigration policies during his first term, including family separations at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Minaj has not confirmed whether she formally applied for or received the Gold Card.
