Senator Newton Criticises Opposition Leader’s Style in Budget Debate
Senator Lamin Newton has criticised the opposition leader’s communication style, calling it ineffective and lacking substance.
Speaking during the Senate debate on the 2025 budget, Senator Newton said “screaming and shouting” do not amount to effective communication and urged the opposition to adopt a more constructive approach.
The senator’s comments came as he defended the government’s record on key issues, including water management and economic development.
He highlighted the administration’s efforts to address the country’s longstanding water challenges, citing investments of over $150m USD in infrastructure and improvements to desalination plants.
Senator Newton accused the opposition of failing to present viable solutions to the water crisis.
“The leader of the opposition speaks about the water situation without offering any comprehensive plans,” he said. “We inherited a broken system in 2014, and while it’s not perfect, we’ve made tangible progress.”

Remember you called on Honorable Pringle to speak for you in All Saints West while we were campaigning. You can neither speak nor spoken, scream nor shout.
Mr. Pringle is EMOTIONALLY Passionate but not INTELLECTUALLY passionate. empty vessels make the most noise for real. Mr. Pringle already declined both internal help and external help.

Ok! Got it, lammin upon his inaugurated speech can attack the opposition leader but pearl quin could not attack the government leader Gaston brown, that’s like 3 +6 =2 is that correct ?
Pringle continues to be an embarrassment to politics and leadership. Try as I might to allow him some time and space to emerge as a road worthy political advocate, he just sinks lower and lower into the political quicksand he finds himself in. He needs to find his way out NOW before he is swallowed up completely. Every time I see him, every time I hear him, my heart bleeds for the loss of yet another black boy destroyed by evil companions.
He is not “destroyed”
He is busy making millions under Labour Party government. How much you think he made from just SIDS Conference alone? take a good guess. Mr. Pringle is quite content being intellectually daft. Long as he money set good and straight, that’s all he care about. The only education he needs is to be able to count his money. and he has Hamish and iShawna to help with that.
Pringle is like an empty pringles can that rolls on the asphalt, ton of noise and empty.
I think its time these Politians go through some sort of screening before they make their way into a particular position in politics.
especially the SOUR CREAM flavour. that one is the worst! Horrible taste
Lamin…You claim, “We inherited a broken system in 2014,…”…erm…wern’t you a part of the UPP at that time?
@Puff Daddy Lamin has every right to criticize the mess that he first tried to fix, then left behind.
If you cant make the UPP make sense then it makes no sense to remain in the UPP.
That appears to be the main thought process which drives the ongoing loss of support, resignations and quiet-quitting within our nations failed opposition.
@Leadership Matters
you are spot on! No one in their right mind will stay aboard a sinking ship.
