Wade Replaced, Defence Force Major Appointed Prison Boss

Albert Wade has been replaced as Superintendent of Her Majesty’s Prison, a position he has held for the past four years.

The Cabinet announced today that it approved the conclusion of the secondment of Wade, who will be returned to the Antigua and Barbuda Royal Police Force. 

He will take up his position at the Police Force on February 1, 2019, serving as Deputy Commissioner for Operations, according to the government.

“As Prison Superintendent, Mr. Wade was very well-liked and respected. He is credited with bringing reforms to the prison and improving some conditions,” a brief statement from the cabinet stated.

Meantime, the Cabinet also approved the appointment, by secondment, of Major Eugene Phillip of the Antigua and Barbuda Defense Force to the post of Superintendent of Her Majesty’s Prison(HMP).

Major Phillip has been a Member of the Prison Visiting Committee during these past three years and knows well the challenges of the institution. He will take up his appointment on February 1, 2019, so that there will be no break in the leadership of HMP.

On Friday morning, January 25, 2019, the new Superintendent Phillip will be introduced to the staff at HMP, and the transition process will begin.

  2. Mr Phillip oh well I guess the CDS job is off the cards for you. Hmmmm interesting strategic move by somebody……

    For an ACTIVE major in an armed force this is an anti-climax to ones career. Hope you give the BEST persons a job.

  3. Congratulation to my brother Eugene Philip. He was born a leader, his mannerism is unbelievable, his ability to lead is amazing, And most of all where Jesus lead he will fellow and God will give him all the tools to do so with diligent and pride.
