The government says work is continuing to ensure that the University of the West Indies Fourth Landed Campus at Five Islandsopens its doors in September 2019.

It said on Wednesday that although several buildings are now occupied by various schools, more work is to be done to make certain that all systems are equal to (and even superior to) the other three UWI Landed Campuses.

“At the moment, all Internet capabilities have been installed to meet the UWI requirements,” based on a report coming from Cabinet.

In addition to Five Islands two other locations throughout the 108 square-mile-island will make up the UWI Fourth Landed campus.

“The administration’s effort is to ensure that Antigua and Barbuda’s youth shall have easy access to tertiary education at home, thereby making the acquisition of a degree less costly and more youngsters give consideration to earning a degree. “

  1. This is great news and I fully support universities being located in Antigua. Our schools are actually very good compared to others in the Caribbean and it is always sad to see our students leave Antigua to study at university elsewhere.

I hope many of our bright Antigua university students choose to stay in Antigua to study a university degree!

  2. This can only be good.

Former PM Spencer take a look at city west and see how Prime minister takes care of his constituency. SCHOOL, CLINIC, SPORT, ROAD, HOUSE IMPROVEMENT, EMPLOYMENT, SCHOLARSHIP, RADIO STATION, MEDICAL SUPPORT, HOUSING PROJECT, CASH.

Hate his attitude or dislike him you must admit the PM has made a difference in his constituency and that is a fact because there is tangible evidence for all to see.

Former PM Spencer you are a humble graceful man however you had 10 long years, the last ditch efforts will remain your legacy.

    • I agree with you. Say one say two. Willikies in a mess and that one has been there for 40 years plus. Nothing to show!!!!

    • Last ditch efforts?? His career is over.Like the rest of the UPP he finished with a D- grade.. They have left no positive legacy on the nation, their legacy is-the IMF,the ugly structure on Independence Drive and a Hugh Debt to GDP hanging over our heads.not to forget the negative picture they continue to paint on the Island, with the intention to gain political relevance..When something is dead it cannot be resurrected by mankind, and they are as good as dead as a political Party. And this theory of BS been a humble man, thats a dam joke..

    • Education wasn’t necessary in your case. You are well connected spliff. “Educated dunce” is a phrase you often used when referring to persons who cant have numerous govt jobs like you.
