Announcing policies aimed at “moving Antigua & Barbuda from its knees to its feet,” United Progressive Party leader Harold Lovell has said in his New Year’s message that there will be a repeal of the Unincorporated Business Tax (UBT) and no return of Personal Income Tax (PIT).
Describing the UBT as “killing entrepreneurship” Lovell promised to “repeal the job-killing” tax.
He said this was one of the measures meant to create employment coupled with keeping the PIT off the books.
In his New Year’s message, Lovell paints a bleak picture of 2017 while promising better times ahead with under a UPP administration.

What tax will the UPP introduce? What tax will you add that is the question Lovell must answer this.

Thought I had replied to this before. Short version anyway is none. No new taxes planned: intent is to boost the economy, with for one a 300 million dollar hotel investment and other things, so that there is the knock on effect on the revenue the government gets I suppose.
But then again, what tax did the ABLP say they would introduce? I don’t recall Unincorporated Business Tax being part of their campaign. 🤷🏼♀️
hey upp u had the chance to not let alp see power ever again in my life time but u guys muck it up …imagine not having running water for four years of you second term imagine getting up to go vote on election morning and noon running water ….u guys did not make an effort to deal with this situation, the ablp party should not be in power because it is about enriching them selves. …building building and renting to them selves it is corruption. ..so upp it it your own fault.

Actually there has been some IMPROVEMENT in the water service.

I think the road works are to commence sometime early this year, with three roads identified. I only remember Friar’s Hill being one. I “think” this is from the grant, no? I could be mistaken.
I hope that you put the passionate feelings you have into voting. As hard (and possibly irksome) a choice as it may be, I believe turnout will matter greatly come the next election, and the future of the nation.
