The nine finalists to challenge the reigning Calypso Monarch, King Zacari, on Friday, August 3, was announced last night at the Wadadli Beer Calypso Monarch semifinals.
Finalists are:
- Queen Thalia (A cry for Calypso; Steel Pan War)
- Singing Althea (Criminals in Suits; Yet Still I Rise)
- Stumpy (Ways of a King; Nobody’s Negro)
- Black Madhi (I feel Shame for Calypso; Fire in de Pan Yard)
- King Fiah (Labour Win Again; In your Face)
- Kaseba (Ungrateful Good; Party Atmosphere)
- King De Bear (Black on Black; Tek it Back)
- Sage (Calypso Cry; Teachers don’t Quit)
- Douglas (Selfishness; Soccer Boss)
The monarch will take home $30,000. $24,000 goes to second place with $21,000 to third. All other finalists will receive $7,800 for that night.
Entrance fee for the finals is $30.
