Tiger Tyson makes history for Antigua after qualifying for youth olympics

Island Academy student Tiger Tyson has made history by becoming the first Antiguan and Barbudan to qualify for Kite Surfing at the Youth Olympics.

The 15-year-old qualified after he won the North American/Caribbean Qualifiers in the Dominican Republic yesterday.

“I am super happy. I just can’t believe it, I am shocked,” Tyson said after his victory.

He said the qualifiers, over a period of two weeks, were “very intense” with only one point separating the top competitors.

The Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games is the third edition of the Summer Youth Olympics a major international sporting event in which culture and education are also of great importance, are due to be held on 6–18 October 2018 in Argentina.
