Seaplane Wants To Operate Between Antigua and Barbuda

The government has announced that seaplane operators Tropicocean Airways, has expressed an interest in establishing a presence in Antigua in order to fly between St. John’s and Barbuda.

The company presently operators seaplanes in Florida, the Bahamas, and another jurisdiction in the Caribbean.

The seaplanes will seek permission from the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) to operate the aircraft in this jurisdiction from December 1, 2018.

“A study will be undertaken to determine the areas where the craft would take-off and land in both islands,” the government said.

The Minister of Aviation has been charged by Cabinet to complete the negotiations with ECCAA and to relay all the requirements to the operators.

It was announced that one of the principals will be visiting Antigua in the week ahead.
