No Apology For Richard Lewis

Prime Minister Gaston Browne says he has nothing to apologise for after being written to by lawyers representing Senator Richard Lewis.

Lewis says Browne made a statement on his radio station linking him to the ongoing e-books controversy, and through his lawyers, gave the Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister 14 days to apologise.

Less than a week into the ultimatum, Browne says he won’t be wasting the time of his lawyers to respond but will do so himself.

Browne said he has listened to what he said and concluded that there was no intention to defame Lewis.

“There is absolutely nothing defamatory about what I said,” Browne told Pointe FM on Saturday.

“No claim was made that he was involved in Fortuna Pix, No Claim was made that he provided any content for any e-book.”

Browne said Lewis and his lawyer Charlesworth Tabor “need classes in comprehension.”

“I cannot see that any attorney will entertain that type of frivolous claim and for them to sit down and write that kind of letter, obviously a waste of time letter that’s not going anywhere.

And let me tell you I want to deal with him very harsh that is why I want to answer himself.”

    • Wow I cant believe the editor of this site let this comment pass. Even if the person does not support the pm to allow this type of comment. All I have to type is smh..

    • Is the PM more pompous than the one you’re defending here(RL)?? Your comment shows your bitterness and hatred. What? you are sorry that the public knows how much money he got from Board of Education? Because i heard that entire argument and not once did i ever hear the PM mention the name of Fortuna Pix,in relation to the above individual..Another example of milking the Cow..

  2. Several residents in his constituency have sought financial assistance from Richard Lewis, only for him to tell them that he nah have no money. Now that this information has been brought to light, what will these constituents think of him?

He was in a position to even help buy school stationery out of the million dollars, but opted not to? He decided to fake being a pauper rather than help the very people he wanted to represent?

Wonder what Anthony Stuart, Malaka Parker and Baldwin Spencer have to say about this?

  3. Interesting interview this morning on Observer AM. Sounds like Mr. Lewis may not have the facts on his side. Time will tell.
Kudos to Observer for this interview in regards to the Global Ports agreement as well. If the cruise business is in fact beneficial to the A&B economy and beyond the financial capability of the government’s current fiscal situation to maintain and develop then perhaps this agreement should be seen in a different light.Time will tell.

  4. We once had a magistrate who said that one does not have to physically hit another to inflict hurt/pain.
    Is this one such situation?
Mr. Prime minister, as the leader of this country, MUCH IS GIVEN, HENCE MUCH MORE IS EXPECTED. Listen to GOOD ADVICE and in the end …
Hypocrisy, i don’t agree with the sentiment that people should sit and expect/depend on politicians to provide for them just for a vote.
    Isn’t this ” holding ransom/hostage?”
What’s wrong with HONEST WORK, NO MATTER WHAT TYPE? FARMING, GRASS CUTTING, HOUSEKEEPING, ETC?
Though some of us know that we are neither qualified nor capable, we want specific and big money jobs; so what do we do when we can’t get such? Stay home, be beggie, beggie and hold aspirants/ politicans at ransom.
What a shame, but then again who made them so?
