Part of Friar’s Hill Road will be closed for two weeks

(PRESS RELEASE)

For the next two (2) weeks a section of Friars Hill road only will remain closed to facilitate utility works associated with the Antigua and Barbuda Road Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project (ARIRP) now underway.

This closure will take effect from Tuesday 14th Aug. at 6:00am

Utility work is now at the section of the road identified as phase 3C – from the intersection of Dickenson Bay St. to the intersection of St. John’s St.

As a result of the closure, road users wishing to access businesses on Stapleton Ln (the road with St. Joseph’s Academy School) can only do so after exiting the roundabout near the Antigua Recreation Grounds and return to the same exit point.

There will be no entry from Stapleton Ln. to Friars Hill Rd.

Diversion Routes:

It is anticipated that while engineers construct an electrical manhole where Stapleton
Ln. meets Friars Hill Road, traffic will be diverted onto Dickenson Bay St. and St. John’s St.

Meantime, plans are afoot for additional manholes to be constructed along other sections of the motorway.

This is likely to result in other sections of the Frias Hill Road to be closed at two week intervals with traffic being diverted onto other routes over the next eight weeks.

Frias Hill Road remains an active construction site. As a result, motorists should drive with extreme caution and vigilance. -END-No parking will be allowed along main roads or side roads in the area.
