One million dollar military boost

The government has committed one million dollars in resources to boost the operations of the  Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF).

The ABDF provided Cabinet with a report which it called “A Military Review”.

Such a review is compelled by the 1981 Defense Act and its 2006 Amendment.

A government statement said the ABDF Coast Guard requires more vessels and more trained personnel in order to fill the pressing defence needs of the nation.

“Though a decision had been taken to fill the vacancies created by attrition, the ABDF reported that its force has shrunk, causing many soldiers to work many hours per week. The Cabinet pledged to free-up $1,000,000 dollars in resources in order to meet many of the justifiable expectations of the ABDF,” the statement added.

It said collaboration with OECS countries under the RSS Treaty and the traditional allies was also taken into account in strengthening defense and security.

The Cabine also agreed that a greenhouse will be contributed by the Ministry of Agriculture to the ABDF for the development of certain skills, the production of agricultural products for consumption, and to make use of vacant land at Crabbes Peninsula.

  1. It’s about time one million is a knee jerk start. Next step rid the force of all the geriatrics at the top creating misery in the troops causing the numbers to shrink to the lowest ever.

The ABDF should send an entry to Guinness World Records, for the smallest military force with the highest number of MAJORS, CAPTAINS, and LTs, per number of private soldiers. LOL, seriously it’s a joke too many officers…

Financially it’s a burden to have so many officers in the force many reach and pass retirement age long time. Free house, free Jeep, free gas, free clothes, free food, free cell phone, free free free on the public purse.

Seek uncommissioned military equipment from the US they have plenty left over from the recent wars. Helicopters, cutters, ATVs, weapons, radars, night vision equipment, gadgets, medical/dental equipment, tools, heavy duty equipment etc. The US has lots of stuff they no longer use but could be useful at ABDF.

  2. By the way for ceremonial parade count the number of military officers (they will be in a different color uniform) then count the number of soldiers in the field because on the field will be ALL the privates including the cook, gardener, dishwasher, and candle stick maker.

    • LOL @ candlestick maker

Bruce Lake is the only light skin soldier at ABDF? They only accept dark skin recruits? wow

  3. FULL OF SHIT… ANTIGUA GOVERNMENT WASTING MONEY…. Put That MONEY INTO THE HEALTHCARE.
    THE HOSPITAL NEED MORE FUNDING.

  4. It’s about something be done. I was once a female soldier n had to.wrk.three n 4 nights before I could go he to my child. They need to look out more for the lower ranks have the burden with the work. Eastman could have not but it any better with his first comment. I wish them luck
