No back pay in October

Lionel "Max Hurst, Government's Chief of Staff

Public Servants who were promised the first tranche of back pay by the end of November were today told that the money will not be coming.

Government’s Chief of Staff Lionel ‘Max’  Hurst announced on ZDK Radio this morning that the funds needed to make the payments have not yet been collected.

“The access to the resources has proven to be a little more difficult. As you know the government doesn’t have the money hanging around so when the money does come it will be distributed,” Hurst said.

He announced that in excess of 40 million dollars are needed to meet the amount owed in backpay.

The government’s spokesman said “we are going to arrange it so that by Christmas you have some of the money in your pocket.”

“It may not be all because there is difficulty getting all of it all at once,” he added.

The payments in question date back to nearly two decades, according to Hurst.

  1. Where is the money coming from to fund the CCJ educational campaign? I hope it’s not from the government. Because if it is then it is a sad pitiful state of affairs. People cannot get paid, but they are being heckled with the CCJ referendum day in and day out. Have mercy.
